Why do people wait until Friday night to ask if they need to go to the doctor (or take a child to the doctor) for symptoms they have had for days??

Every Friday night you see a woman explaining that her baby is and HAS BEEN sick and asking if they should take them to the doctor. If your baby has BEEN sick for days take them to the doctor!

Has anyone else noticed this and wandered what's wrong with these people??

Waiting out a minor illness for yourself is one thing. But, waiting out a potiential serious problem of your BABY is another!

Some times it's called "SELFISHNESS". They do not want to take time out of their busy schedule (ie. Mon - Fri) to visit the doctor. Allowing private sitters and day cares to go through the burden. On the weekend they just rush the poor child to a walk in clinic when the situation seems to becoming worse. I guess the dollars and cent is worth the risk. After all they need it for medication. What else can I say. It's just a pity.

Because people are to preoccupied with work durring the week and have enough stress to deal with that they dont realize how serious the problem is until friday night when they dont have to think about work for a few days. Also because durring the week they dont want to have to take time off work to deal with it when it could just be nothing.

I've noticed that too. . but consider one thing. A lot of people don't have health insurance so they try to wait their ailment out to see if things get better. If they don't then they have no other choice than to spend the $100 office visit charge to get better. But I admit, waiting until Friday afternoon is pretty silly.

during the week, children are raised by the schools and daycares. parents generally get a few hours each night with their children and them more hours on the weekend.
since families do not interact during the week, it is not uncommon for the child to present as sick on the weekend.

Maybe they have a full time job, rotten boss and limited transportation at times. Uncertainty and inexperience with these circumstances can take a toll and maybe the poor women is worn out.
You sound like a bitter receptionist.

This isn't particular to fridays, this happens every day. People wait a few day to see if simptoms will go away before they decide they should do something.

Because they don't really want to see a Dr. in the first place, now they have an excuse not to go.
