I met this girl on MySpace last June and we began chatting online. At first I didn't think it would last all that long and neither did she but 8 months later, we've become real good friends. Over the 8 months it hasn't gone any farther then just IM's; even though we only live 15 minutes apart. I'm 23 and she's 17 and we talk almost daily. We always ask how each others day were and have just gotten to know one another a lot better.

Now, I've gotten to the point where I would really like to meet face to face. We've always said one day we will, but so far nothing has happened. Lately, I've wondered if we ever did meet, if it would some how change things between us and alter our friendship.

Am I wrong in thinking this? What should I do? I really don't want to lose a good friend.

Ok, here are two ways to look at it. I have met a few of my online buddies, one I am now engaged to be married to. and one I seriously wish I had never met them in rl, so very different than what he is online, and our friendship has been altered because of it. I suggest talking on the phone, you can really get to know a person by talking with them voice to voice, if their is alot of silence, it may show you how it would be in rl. if it is smooth like you have known eachother for a long time, I dont think there would be any altering of your friendship :-) Good luck!

The imaginary world in fun .Some gals get on here to leave the real world of washing diapers and a dominant husband to be in a free and easy relationship . (not me 1 happily married woman.)
So Just say lets meet in a public place even take some one with you and she can do the same .It is best to get it over with .
Find out if all this time you have been talking to a gay man ,he he .And make sure she is not lieing about her age (jail bait) Good Luck .
PS. I met my husband on line 8 years ago .:)

It sounds like you really like this girl. Depending on the state you are in, I would either try to ask her out on a date, or wait until she is 18, then ask her out on a date. If she says that she doesn't want to ruin the friendship, then that just means she only has feelings for you as a friend.

You're not wrong in thinking that. Ya'll should try to meet then, but at a safe location of course, just incase, even so atleast she would be safe. Sounds like it could blossom into something more. good luck!

well ask her to meet you some place at a certain time, then go from there. if she doesnt show up she either not into you, maybe she thinks it is a date, tell her it is just to meet you, or maybe she is lying after al it is the internet, people lie all the time
