How do I keep my curls in?

Well i have long thick layered hair.. I wanna put loose curls in it and use a curlin iron.. I tried doin it tonight and i need it to where it stays in.. I used hairspray..Put in before and after.. But it doesnt stay curly esp in the back.. I dont want them to fall out.. Im goin out tomorrow night and I cant have my hair look bad.. I will be dancing and stuff.. I dont wanna put curlers in i wanna use my curlin iron..I want to look sexy.. Please help..

We seriously have the same hair. Mine would never hold a curl either but I found a solution for it. The night before I wash my hair and while it's still wet I section off pieces. I twirl it around my finger until it's a tight twist, if I want a lot of small curls or just twist a little bit and wrap it like a bun for bigger sexy curls that look natural. So I twist the section, wrap it like you would a bun and then use bobby pins to hold it over night. I spray on leave in conditioner before bed and the next morning while the buns are still in I blow dry them for some extra staying power. The curls always stay and my hair is so soft and needs almost no hairspray so it looks really natural. I get the most compliments on my hair when I do this to it. Good luck with it I hope you understand me sometimes I just jumble everything up because I already know how to do it and forget that I am trying to teach someone else how to do it.

use a smaller curlin iron and curl your hair then put your finger threw the curls to loosen them up and then put hairspray.Or you could curl and then hairspray if you want them tight , I once did my friends hair that way for prom and it stayed that way for 3 day and they had really straight hair.

why not curlers??? if u want long lastin curls...curlers are sur to giv u that...they wud last really longer than usin a curlin iron...

i mostly use curlers than usin a culrin iron...cause usin a curlin iron wud really damage ur hair if u always curl ur hair...i straighten my hair lik evry day, so to giv my hiar a rest...i put it in curlers to giv my long lastin curls nd without damagin my hair that much...
