I am a 9th grader living in the state of Tennessee, and my Advanced World History is terrible. She is very unorganized. I have been wainting for 7 weeks to take a quiz that I missed when I was on an excused absence from the principal. I have video on my cell phone of there being books, pens, pencils, etc. being throwm and other students getting kicked the bad part is this is going on while she is IN THE ROOM. Our classes is an hour and a half she may only teach for maybe 35 minutes if we are lucky, because the class will get out of hand. She doesn't give detenions because she doesn't want to stay afterschool. She has also NEVER wrote anyone up. Probably, only four other students and myself are actually trying to learn, BUT I AM BASICALLY BEING DENIED THAT. What can I do? Is she breaking the No Child Left Behind Act? PLEASE HELP :-)

No, she is not breaking NCLB unless she is not certified for what she is teaching. If you want to just save yourself, have you parents call the school and ask for you to have a different teacher. Most schools will comply if there are other teachers. You can also look into independant study.
I have taught ninth grade, and sometimes no matter how many detentions, write ups, and suspensions are given, students still have the free will to choose to misbehave. If you think it is a matter of the students not knowing what they are doing, feel free to talk to your peers and persuade them to act differently; just because one is a teacher does not mean respect is automatic.
If you really want to help her be a better teacher, offer to come in early or come in on her prep period and help her get organized. Ask a great teacher to be her mentor. Research different activities the class can do to be more engaged in the subject matter. Maybe just ask if there is anything you can do to help if she is having a really bad day.
I remember being a new teacher and just wanting to give up on a class much like yours; but I had two or three students that were just amazing, so I made sure to give it my all, at least for them. Offer a compliment once and a while and participate to let her know she has someone in her corner.

Talk to your principal to see if you can get transferred out of the class into another history class. My recommendation, for now, is to avoid causing trouble for the teacher. You don't know how the administration feels about the teacher, and may cause more trouble for yourself down the line.
I would also talk to your parents about this. If they agree that this is a serious issue (I certainly believe so) and are willing to go through with this, I would confront the principal about the issue. Please keep in mind that the world isn't as pretty as you may think, even if you present all the evidence that the teacher is obviously unfit to teach, the administration may simply refuse to do anything about it (and may, if there are rules against it, even punish YOU for recording the class without permission).
Lastly, I know that this probably isn't what you want to hear, but the semester is ending soon. If you just bear it out (and study on your own, or perhaps with the others in your class), you'll come out of this fine, and have something to talk about during your college applications.
If you want, you can contact me with each weeks lesson (whatever the teacher gets through), and I can direct you to various resources online.

Tell someone.... your parents, your school counselor, your principal. Keep telling.... if you get nothing from any of them, call your school district office and ask to speak to the superintendent. You, as a student, have the right to learn. It is part of our benefits as Americans. If you have a teacher who does not know how to control her classroom and you have video proof..... YOU be the adult in this situation. If you contact someone, don't whine. Don't act like a tattletale... rather, present the facts and represent the rest of your class that deserves to be learning in the classroom! If you present yourself as a serious student who is committed to getting an education, you should be taken seriously. Don't be underhanded and post anything on the internet.... rather, document the behavior going on in the classroom (notes, videos, etc.) and present your case. You are on your way to being a very grown up, responsible adult. Congratulations for going after the education you are indeed entitled to!!!

Maybe ur teacher has personal problems(financial maybe) teaching may not be her first choice but it pays the bills. Maybe u should speak with ur guidance councilor about the problem.
