Warning sound on VW polo did not work why?

When the driver did not wear a seat belt originally theres a warning sound and also when we did not turn off the lights when the engine off, the warning sound are beeping but nit anymore, why?

The buzzer unit has worn out. The key in and the seatbelt warning operate on seperate circuits. The only thing they have in common is the buzzer unit. Pick one up at the dealer, or a junk yard and put it in. It's located on the left side under the dash just left of the steering column.
