i got an 88 on my asvab...
i will ONLY join the navy.
i want to enlist and serve 4-6 years as enlistee, then go for OCS and try for pilot.... a job that could benefit the plan would be ideal...
i want a job with an extremely small chance of sea duty...
i DONT want a desk job, or a job that should require me to use my brain............... like computers or whatever..
i want a job that'll have me outside...
i dont want to go for special ops.
what jobs fit the above?... other than seabee?

Sweetie, if you *don't* want sea duty, join another branch. *All* ratings end up on sea duty at one point, and if you ever become a pilot, you better believe that you'll see a lot of ships! And don't let anyone tell you that you won't end up on a ship. I didn't, but I was an exemption to the rule because of someone messing up my orders. But since about 2003, just about all new recruits end up on ships for their first duty station.

Let's see...no brains...no desk...outside...try for Master at Arms (which is security). But honestly, there's no way you'll know for sure what ratings you'll be offered until you're sitting in the office with the Navy Career Counselor. It all depends on the date you want to go to boot camp, and what schools and ratings have openings. If there's no room, you can't go.

But, yeah...Navy is on the sea. That's why it's called the *Navy*.

The reason they call it the navy, and the people in the navy sailors, is because it's about ships and sea duty.

Your only hope would be to get an aviation rate and then get real lucky and get assigned to a patrol (VP) squadron that doesn't go to sea (they do overseas rotations).

If you want a legitimate shot at OCS and being a pilot then join the army. It isn't going to happen for you in the navy.

heh, there's only a few jobs where you have just this side to no chance of sea duty, and few of those are enlisted jobs. Construction specialties -- Builders, construction electricians, and construction mechanics -- are generally regarded as "land" Navy, but they still have the chance to be sent on sea duty. it's the navy, dude, you'll go where they tell you to.
