I'm a full time grad student and I work part-time. I rarely do anything fun or out of the ordinary, but tomorrow night I have the oppurtunity to go out to dinner with some friends to celebrate a close friends birthday. The restuarant they have chosen is a very trendy, higher end place that I would probably would never go to on my own. I want to go very badly; however, I have to work.

My current job is min wage and does not have anything to do with studies or career. I simply do it because I'm going to school full-time and interning. This job offered me weekend hours, and that's the only time I can work. I work every weekend and rarely go out.

I'm thinking about call you, but I'm not sure what to do? I'm almost feel as though I deserve it, b/c I rarely call out and I'm a very good employee when I'm there. Plus, my job always over staffs on the weekends and I won't really be missed. Lots of other people call out, people maybe angry at them for a few days

but nothing ever comes from it, and no one ever gets fired.

All my friends are also college educated; however, they work full time jobs. No school, 9-5 hours; where as I, live the life of a struggling student. Just once I'd like to go out with people my own age to have dinner and drinks. I want to do normal things educated and cultured people my age do.

We are in our mid 20's, recently out of school (not me, them) 1-2 years.

Getting someone to work for me is out of the question. It's too late, my company has policies about subbing for other employees. All requests for subbing need to be submitted to a manager the day before, at the latest.

Well you go already! Lol, seriously, if you are almost always there then tell them in advance however that something has come up on the day you have to work. If you think they will ask too many questions then call in on the day you are going out. I am not one for lying, but you may deserve to go out once in awhile.

Hi, it is a bit of a tough one but you are in your prime years, I am only 21 and I have a similar problem, I work Monday to Friday and I rarely go out because I always have to catch up on the housework and do the groceries etc. I think if you have been reliable every weekend and turned up to work, than live a little and call in sick. They will manage without you for one night. I hope you have fun.
