a lack of something. What is deficient?

Depends on what you are talking about. Oil for the car or vitamins for your body. I'll choose the latter. It means the deficiency ( lack of or less that required amount of), whatever it is is present. In other words, you need this vitamin, mineral or hormone or whatever it is that you are deficient in to be replaced. Usually a Dr. will give you the fix for it or tell you what to buy at the pharmacy to fix it. If I knew what it was I might help you but without knowing it isn't much good to go on. Good luck.
