i have naturally dark brown (almost black) hair
i like the way hilary duff wears her hair in this pic:

i put my hair back with hairpins, but it always looks so flat. how can i get it to stay like in the pic? (and dont just say "hairspray, you idiot!!!")

It seems like you'll have to "tease" the hair at the roots... this means you're going to use a comb to sort of "push" the hair in the opposite direction.

search thru hair and style mags and see if the hair/style you want is there. If it is, it should have a step-by-step process of how to get that 'do. Or ask a pro hairstylist and see what the result will be. Just be sure to bring the pic w/ you so that they know what the style looks like! Hope this answers your question!

Just put it up in a ponytail and take the top pieces and lift them up all together and then spray it a lot with hairspray. You could also do something like my avatars hair which is a lot easier and you just pin it up and lift it and then ponytail it
