well I was 11 and the flower girl in my aunt's wedding. however, my flower girl was about a month shy of 3. she forgot to drop the flowers out of the basket & when someone told her to throw the flowers, she chucked the whole dang basket. It was hysterical! Looking back I probably shouldn't have had a flower girl at all (cause she was my only option); but she's my god daughter & it's a funny story to tell. I think your 9 year old sounds like the perfect age! Congratualtions!

I would say probably under the age of 10 or 11. A nine year old little girl is the perfect age to be a beautiful little flower girl in your wedding. Congrats to you and your fiance.

You could use her as a flower girl if she is a "young" nine or give her a really grown up feel if she is a more mature nine and have her be a junior bridesmaid

I am getting married in a few months and I am having a 16 month old as my flower girl. I don't think the age of the flower girl is terribly important unless you are incredibly struck on them doing a particular job. At our church they don't allow for flower petals to be dropped (You may want to check that out). So that's not an issue. I am not even worried that she won't make it up the aisle. What was most important to me and my fiance is that because she is an important person in our life, we are including her in our wedding. (Her father is a groomsman.) We have planned our entire wedding around what is important to us. If that means our flower girl and ring bearer (he's going to be 21 months) don't make it down the aisle and their parents have to take them outside because they are crying, then I can deal with that. They are important to me and that's what counts. Good luck with the rest of your planning.

Don't get one that is too young..our flower girl just dropped the basket on the floor and would not walk down when she was her turn..it messed up the ceremony a lot...but
age 8 or above is good ages

The ideal age is between 4 and 8. A 9 year old will do because she still represents youth and youth-to-come, yet knows how to toss rose petals without messing things up too much.

If the child is old enough to understand what to do on that day would be the minimum and the oldest I would go up to the age 10. When they start getting older than10 then they should graduate to a junior bridesmaid or junior bride.
