I'm asking for all views on this: Any religion or belief or lack thereof.

When I still believed myself to be a Christian, I truly felt that my sleep paralysis episodes were visitations from demons. As a Christian, the same "demon" would visit me during every episode. As I have rejected the faith, the episodes have become less frequent. I now feel as though these episodes are simply a sleep disorder and have nothing to do with demons.

Offer me your thoughts on this please. I'd like to know other's interpretations of these episodes. Not just how they pertain to me, but to others who experience them.

I believe that being a christian increases spiritual warfare, however before I got saved, i almost died three times, but I was not yet saved and so I would have gone to the burning pit. I also had dreams of demons before being saved (but i was being sexually abused) and after being saved (I was on some meds with the side effects of nightmares). While on these meds, I was able to stop the nightmares the nights I covered myself by quoting scriptures outloud, until I could discover what was causing the nightmares: john 14:27, Levitus 26:6 and Psamls 91:11. You have to watch what you bring into your house as well, liek other Gods, IE Buddah, objects of religious worship from foreign lands ect. these can cause spiritual warfare to come into your home. There has to be some reason why you are being haunted by a demon. I was being scratched by what I called a freddied crugar demon, but once I found the thing that caused it, the demon was gone. If you have played with Wicca to, that can bring these spirits into your life to. A quiji board will also do it to.

I sorry you gave up your faith in Jesus but better to get 2 hrs sleep per night and go to Heaven rather than sleep 8 hrs and go to hell.

I dont see the 2 as connected because when youre a believer, God is willing to give you answers if you have faith. I had problems with my teeth and I prayed a lot that he would take the pain away. One day miraculously for no apparent reason the answer randomly came to me to brush my teeth a certain way and once I did the pain went away and the last time I went to the dentist he said I have 0 cavities.

God is willing to help you with things if you are willing to have faith as well as save you from your sins.

Its demonic or witch craft. I've had worse heart palpitations, mind control, extream spazms, people come into my dreams, actual pain "something hurting me with powers", Some spirit or entity zapping me with some kind of energy especially when I read and start to fall asleep, then when I first fall asleep a large flash of light, fingers turning numb, Being paralized in my sleep but its like im awake and cant move. I say the Lords Prayer. Its witch craft and demonic forces. a lot more has happend but my faith is stronger. Jesus Christ is God and he gives his holy Angels charge over those he loves. For what ever reason he makes us go threw this. Stay strong and dont think he and they will leave you alone it wont happen. Dont become one of the sticks in the wood pile, Theirs a lot of them that are going to be thrown into the fire. And what ever you do dont ever play occult games again or practices.

As paralysis has a neurological base, is it not reasonable to assume that the brain can have an effect? Seizures can be brought on by stress and can even be psychosomatic, why wouldn't your sleep paralysis have a similar ability. Maybe you'll lose enough faith and get rid of them all together (didn't work for my seizures either though).

I had the same thing happen to me. I am totally telling you the truth. I knew that I was asleep, and couldn't wake up, and the demons were trying to cause me to faulter. But I persevered.

You wimped out!

Now that youare doing what they want you to do they are leaving you alone. I don't care if you report me, but I am going to tell you the truth, you WIMP! After all the persecution you gave up your salvation for some sleep. That really sucks, and if you had an ounce of guts in your body, something that I am not sure that you could have, you would tell God,that you are really sorry for not being tough enough to handle it.

I had those dreams and they sucked. Having a gang of demons holding me down was something like rape, but I held on and prayed even in my dream and God removed them from my sight.

Buck up! God wants soldiers in his army, not wimps. Stop being a wimp and bear your cross . Don't you know that we are more than conquerers in Christ Jesus?

I might be showing you some anger right now, but I know that I am right to do it. What you did sucked.

Well, this is a good thing, is it not?

People are so different and varied, I can't even venture a guess as to what this is all about. Maybe your allegorical intepretation of the fears and trepidations life has to offer translates into a demonic paradigm. I have no idea what I just said but I hope YOU do. From my point of view, I already have SO MUCH information about our universe, it strikes me as really mundane to have mythical ideations. So, if I may quote the Hollies,

"Sleep, silent angel, go to sleep . . ."

Well if you think about it, if it really was a demon, then he got what he wanted, and then went away. There's no reason for it to hang around if you no longer have any faith. Though it wasn't demons with me, I did see some pretty horrible stuff during my episodes. I found that praying didn't make it stop, but it did stop me from being afraid, and that was definitely a relief.

Let me get this straight:You left christianity because of sleep paralysis? Not to offend you, but only to inform you of what the word of God says, John says that those who leave the faith were never really of the faith. Please understand, we do not come to Christ so life will be easier. We only come to Him because we come to understand we are sinners in need of the grace of God. If we come for any other reason, we are likely to just become backsliders.Christ never promised that we have it easy in this world, as a matter of fact, just the opposite, He said we would have trouble.Maybe you were sifted, and perhaps your episodes are not as frequent now.Do you think satan has never seen anyone like you? and did he not know how to hit you to destroy your faith?once he has accomplished it, what more does he have to do?I admonish you to think about what you are giving up.There is nothing more important than your salvation. Will God get His glory? Even if He doesn't heal you, will you praise Him just because He is The Almighty, and He has saved you from death? He watches and waits for you, because He loves you just because you are made in His image, but He wants you to love Him just because He is your God.grace and peace

ahem

sleep paralysis occurs when the mind is awake and alert, but is still in a non-responsive mode where it is disconnected from the body as in deep sleep.

many people in my family has had them, and i use them (as infrequently as they occur) as another way for my to pray with perfect concentration unti my body wakes up.

you were never visited by demons, and if you thought that, your parents have warped you away from christianity.

since you beleive in christ no more, you may be sleeping more fittfully and less deeply because of the strees a new change can bring along.

soon they will be back if get back into a more routine schedule.

i hope you sleep better soon
