I'm currently talking seriously with my boyfriend about getting married (though not incredibly soon, we're still in college). However, we can't really picture getting married in a church (we both believe in God, but don't actually attend services or anything), and I'm terrified that if I plan my wedding outdoors, it will rain! I can't come up with a relatively cheap solution. Does anyone know of anywhere besides a church or outdoors, or a hotel (because I'm sure that's bound to be expensive!) Thanks :)

Non traditional weddings happen all the time. Check out www.theknot.com they have wonderful things to show you and different ways you can set up your wedding...if you have it on the beach you can always do that for an outside wedding. Having it at a park or something like that would be wonderful also and remember that you can rent tents to protect your astmosphere and good no matter what for a back up plan...

An intimate wedding at home (or the home of a friend or relative) can be very special and inexpensive. If you have it near the holidays it will already be decorated which saves even more expense. Some apartment complexes have very pretty community rooms that can be reserved by tenants inexpensively or free of charge. Your options will really depend on your area so you may want to read the local papers or attend a local bridal show for more ideas. Good luck.

if you've always dreamed of an outdoor wedding, then just do it girl.
But plan ahead in case of rain, rent tents (not too expensive), or find a location that has a large pavilion. IE state parks
we have many on the east coast but I don't know whre you are located?
Take a drive with your sweetie You may end up finding a covered bridge.. how romantic.

If you don't want to have the "traditional" wedding, maybe you should consider having a "destination wedding". Personally, I think going away to another country, island, or beach is really romantic to exchange vows and become husband & wife. It doesn't always have to be expensive... and alot of times if you meet with the right wedding consultants... You can save tons of cash. Hawaii has the cheapest wedding packages.
Good Luck

Here's some thoughts:
A historical location near you, perhaps a locally famous person's house, frequently able to rent space.
under canopies outdoors
if you're just wanting to rent a room to decorate, think of convention centers, VFW posts, community centers, larger restaurants may have a banquet room, meeting halls, dance studios, local theaters, state or national parks usually rent the covered picnic areas... Botanic gardens, museums, school auditoriums... A lot of places these days will rent space for activities if you ask them. I had a birthday party at a VFW post once, and got married in my friend's really large living room.
