A GENERATION GAP just IS.
I'm 48 yrs. old. To me, Hip Hop is total garbage.
30 yrs. ago, my Grandfather thought Pink Floyd was garbage.
30 yrs. from now,.. "50 Cent", "Snoop Dog", etc. may be as revered as Pink Floyd, even though I can't begin to imagine how this could be possible.
Things just change,... Maybe the Gaps are "natural". This doesn't mean the gaps are bad or good,... they just are.
I don't see Generation Gaps as anything that "anything needs to be done about",...
Just go with it.
(By the way,.. I think that this question is listed in the wrong category)
