Sort of. At the beginning of the school year, watch all those papers coming home. There is usually an offer for 'group accident' coverage. It's not HEALTH insurance, it's ACCIDENT insurance, to cover accidents - not illnesses. So broken legs, broken arms, etc, would be covered. It's CHEAP. For a full year, 24 hour coverage runs about $126 a year. You can add dental (Dental ACCIDENT, like, oh, my kid's tooth got knocked out in gym class) for about $15 a year. You can only sign up for it the first 30 days of school, so if you don't see that paper, you might want to go to the school office and pick it up.

No, but in Illinois they have a program for health insurance for kids called Healthy Kids and Moms and it very affordable or if you don't make that much it is free. You can get immunizations,dental services, and regular well care checkups and tests.
