There are 45 million people in our country that do not have health care. Obviously, there are enough democrats out there that wish these people could be provided with government health care. So how about while filing tax forms there should be an extra section asking "do you wish to contribute to health care?" This way, everybody who does not feel their hard earned money should be going to these people, don't have to pay. Everybody who supports it can front the bill. Is this a legitimate compromise or no? Any better ideas?

Sargeant, it's not an incredibly bad idea... It has some merrit. I'll put you up for a NAM. How's that? Trouble is, a socialized medical program would look alot like sick call. So many lame @ss chumps looking to get out of work while those who REALLY need to be seen are forced to sit and wait. And when they finally DO get seen, who sees the? The lowly HA or HN? When do you get to see the HM1 or the Lt.? Socialize medicine is gonna be like wellfare. It won't hold anyone accountable for all of the bad decisions they've made in life. And yet, those who've made good decisions and have done well, are going to have to pay for those who didn't. Why bother trying to get ahead if in the end, Uncle Sammy (some admin pogue Democrat) is going to take it all away from you and give it to those who didn't even try?

I am a Dem and I believe in access to healthcare for all. I don't believe in free healthcare or complete government control of healthcare. Right now I can't buy healthcare at any price, all companies have turned me down, even the VA won't help since 2003 which was a shock. Should older or sick people be without healthcare? We need a system where health insurance follows the person not the company. We need tax credits to encourage everyone to carry it and for all companies to offer it. Anyone getting treated without means to pay costs you money on your healthcare. You are already paying for them, if everyone was insured, the cost would go down - maybe in half. We pay twice as much for healthcare as Switzerland and they get nursing homes... the works. And they are the second most expensive for healthcare. Maybe doctors don't want this because they can write off inflated bills of those who can't pay against their earnings. That cuts their tax liability. Congress tweak the system.

Works for me. Lets have some other boxes too.NASA,military, national parks, things like that. Then we could support the things we want and other people can pay for social programs if that is what they want.

I think that maybe they should control how much companies are charging for some of these things-which in turn raises insurance rates, and reduces the coverages and increases costs for consumers.

What do you propose the USA do regarding our elderly, sick, disabled and mentally ill. Do you really think it's best we just ignore them, leave them out on the street?

What kind of people are we to celebrate obscene wealth, while our disabled veterans and old people are left to scratch for crumbs?
