Im just wondering what your opinions are.

i believe being confident is knowing who you are & bein proud of it.
cocky on the other hand is being over the top, not thinkin your the best, but knowin your the best.
AGH. i hate cocky guys, so annoying.

Confident is what many people said in many ways. It is knowing what you are made of, without putting others down to make yourself look good, and things like that.
Cocky is the opposite. You can be very good at something, and still be cocky. Bragging is definelty cocky, or treating others like they deserve to be mistreated(in any way). Some people are cocky because they are insecure.
I get that way sometimes if I think I'm being judged, or if I am being real shy. Or if I am trying to hide something(like shyness lol) so I will act cocky instead. Talking about ones self like this can be cocky too lol! Cocky can be being really bossy and then being a hypocrite and then saying its ok or stuff like that, but thats pretty extreme. But hey, as Montgomery Gentry said in a song, some people change..

I think confident is being sure of yourself as a person and able to accept short comings and even laugh at yourself without it bothering you, because your human and so is everyone else....Cocky is being sure of yourself and thinking everyone else should feel the same way, but they don't.... and cocky people think they are so good, they just don't get that. It's really the difference between attractive, and unattractive....

In my opinion the differences are . . .

Confident...Feeling assured about self, know self value and also aware of how you relate to others in a sociable, assuring, friendly manner. Maybe had a guiding / directing personality. Is aware of self yet doesn't try to ' shove ' themselves in front of others. Confident in an assured manner, encourages / cheers others on to aspire to successful goals, doesn't mind sharing the spotlight. At peace with self...

Cocky . . . The person is fully aware of their confidence yet also feels that they are better then others. More of a take charge, feels they know what the others should be thinking / doing so instead of guiding / directing others along as a confident person would...the Cocky person will more expect and push the others to do things their way. Directive, demanding, sense of being better than others. . . actually might be a bit insecure as the cocky person feels they have to prove themself to others...might be jealous of others who might be on same level as them.

Cocky is more like being full of yourself and conceded even about things that aren't necessarily true. Confident is like knowing you can do something; and knowing that you are good in your own skin, but not really bragging and being stuck up about it!

Confident is understanding your capabilities, attributes and aspects and using them wisely. Cocky is barely understanding the same and not using them wisely, and being loud and obnoxious in the process.

arrogant and flashy people are cocky
Focused and determined people are confident
my opinion is a confident person doesnt need to make himself appear better than everyone else, also a confident person is more willing to help other people.
cocky people tend to make others look worse to make themselves look better, and could really careless about helping others unless it betters there personal agenda
