my girlfriend is saying that ohio child support will make me buy her a new car that's at least 4 years old or newer and in safe operating condition because her car is a 1993 and has some issues with it . is this true or not?

Some states have relationships with organizations that provide low income women with cars. One example of such an organization is Vehicles for Change.
Now, I doubt that any law exists which can force a father to pay for a car. However, if such a law exists on Ohio's books - a judge can order a portion of a child support payment to go towards the purchase of a car. It's not taking money out of the mother's hands but if the mother lives in a rural area of Ohio and she needs to drive 25 miles to Wal-Mart to purchase formula and diapers - she's going to get a car.
Here's an example. A judge orders the father to pay $500 a month in child support. The mother could buy a car and have a $500 a month payment - leaving $0 for the child. If the judge directs $100 a month towards a car payment - that still leaves $400 a month for the child. Social service organizations can help the mother select a dependable car.

Never heard of it, the ONLY thing Child support can inforce is that you pay monthly payments period and also can garnish your wages if you do not pay up, you also never married this woman. Some advice to you, Ask for visitaion rights see your child on the weekends and then eventually get 50% custody you have that right as a father, even if it means supervised at first who cares most woman/men are looking for fast easy money, when it comes to child support (Fact) ..also she has a car of her own now, she can get it fixed for whatever the cost, she can get a job if she does not have one. Don't worry about what she tells you, she is just trying to get what ever she can out of you..( also not everyone is like this) but most are

Your girlfriend is lying.
If I were you, I'd make sure any future communications with her are through an attorney. She is trying to take advantage of your lack of knowledge of the laws.
AND... instead of just posting here, how about google "Ohio Child Support laws." Then you can find ouyt what you should expect... states have a formula they use to determine how much support you pay.

I'm a mother who has a child support case in Ohio. "I don't believe that" I honestly think you're girlfriend is trying to manipulate you into buying her a car. I suggest calling your case worker directly or, try this website...Good Luck!

I've never heard of any such thing.. You can be ordered to pay child support as assessed by the State calculator, and maybe ordered to provide medical insurance for the child.
She is full of crap and is trying to get you to do something for her.

child support is paid to the children not the mother you are not financially responsible to pay for anything she may need but you are responsible to provide for the children
