Why is it depressing? Sure, He suffered for your sins (and gladly)... Yeah, He died on a cross for us. But He also rose from the dead.
To me, that's the greatest miracle of all- He made it possible for you and me and every other person on earth to be made perfect and return to His presence. He loves us so much that He did it voluntarily, and is waiting for you to accept and make use of this wonderful gift.

I certainly know you are not alone in feeling this way. Yet another reason why I don't go to church. Spending an hour or two on Sunday staring at a huge Jesus in pain on a cross above the preacher/priests' head is not my idea of a happy day.

As normal as can be .. God set up the blood sacrifice from the beginning, and made it the only atonement for sin . In the OT, animal blood covered sins, In the NT Jesus' blood washes sins away ( Behold the Lamb of God, that takes away the sins of the world ) .Jesus dieing on the cross, and taking the sins of the world upon Himself is sobering . I think God's talking to ya .

Jesus dying on the cross is difficult to contemplate. But when you do, you should be left in awe of the love God has for each of us. Without the cross there is no resurrection. Without resurrection there is no life after death.
The crucifixtion of Jesus should help us to understand God's love and remind us what our sins cost Him. Every thought, word and deed that was contrary to Christianity was paid for by His death. Consequently, every time we sin in thought, word or deed it is as though WE scourged, beat, blasphemed and spit on Him. The crucifix reminds us that our sins cost Jesus the most cruel death ever.
On the bright side, we know that He opened the gates of Heaven for us and that He has gone to prepare a place for us. Follow the two great commandments: I. Love God above with all your heart, mind, soul and strength. 2. Love your neighbor as yourself.
We will have all of eternity to praise and thank Him for this awesome sacrifice.
It's okay to be joyful. Rejoice in the Lord always. Keep your eye on Heaven. Nothing on this earth remotely comes close to our reward in Heaven. When you see the crucifix, remember that He is waiting for you with open arms. God Bless You.

Are you depressed because you now realize that your sin had to be paid for like this?
Are you depressed because it was a sad event?
Are you sad because people are capable of such depravity?
It is expected to feel upset or sad about this event. But, this was the plan. He rose again, and you now have a free gift to accept. The next feelings should be gratefulness, happiness, security, confirmation, peace, and joy.

Wearing a cross is cool, but you cannot live at the cross, you must act like you are at the tomb (jesus is ressurrected)

People died all the time on the cross back then. It was actually quite common.
Except Jesus came back to life, supposedly. So why is that depressing? Shouldn't you be more depressed about the thousands of people who DIDN'T resurrect?

Maybe, only because you don't understand the beauty of the sacrifice Jesus willingly paid for our souls. Jesus loved us enough to die for us. He arose and because He lives , we can live also(eternity).

Yes.
Death is not something we like to think about.
But Jesus came back from the dead. Isn't that an interesting concept.
Coming back. Transending.
