Worms, or power bait if we are talking stocked trout. Salmon eggs and canned corn also work. Helgramites if you can find them for wild trout. Black gnat fly.

sounds like ya' in basic terms startin' be out, if that be the case then for trout i might try the ol potential Bait by potential of Berkeley, it fairly is uncomplicated! there's an stunning style of alternative style baits, yet responders on your question have already coated some. Small spinners which incorporate Panther Martin and Blue Fox do especially lots and their not all that troublesome ta' use. As for the Bass, i might wait until Brandon, exert and or few others upload their strategies ; ). Have a goodin'...

I use a combination of regular kernel corn, nightcrawlers, and velveeta cheese and I limit out nearly everytime I go out in the fall. The velveeta and the corn attract the trout by smell, I simply wrap the cheese around a candy red trebel hook and it sure does bring them in. Nightcrawlers work equally well but It does depend on how you bait your hook, I like to rip em in half and leave the tail dangling. I only use full worms for walleye. The corn i'll place on the end of the snell hook a little past the worm, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.

Go to the hatchery and buy some fish food. Then, crumble the "trout chow" and mix it with egg or something to make a fish food dough, or go buy a can of corn at the supermarket and use that. Simple stuff works wonders.
Good luck on your fishing tourney.

Best bait is what the fish arte already eating....to catch your first one see what kind of insects or berries are in the suround waters and try that....after you catch the first one examine the contents of the stomcahe to see what it ate...then you have a good idea for what to use next for bait.

I agree with cold fear on the hellgramites. Especially for brook trout. grasshoppers, small minnows and small crawfish are also excellent as are all baits mentioned by everyone.
