There's a difference between "babysitter" and "daycare worker" in my opinion - I pay a "babysitter" (someone who watches your child on nights/weekends while you go out and have fun) $7-$12/hr. However, "daycare workers" (someone who watches your child during the day while you're at work) in our city usually charge $3-$7/hr. If it's a one-time deal, I would go with roughly $10 an hour; however, if it's a weekly arrangement, I think $35-$50 a day is fair ($5-ish an hour).

It IS funny that I got paid more per hour babysitting in high school than I get now doing daycare!

Call a handful of daycare places in your neighborhood to get an idea of the going rate in your area?

You mean how much should you pay her? Look up the average in your area, but generally, I say 8-10 dollars minimum per hour, based on experience, and one dollar per hour extra per child. Usually, they come with their own price though. So talk to other parents and babysitters to find out the average.

I don't think you should charge her, "haha" I know what you meant. I believe the going rate is 5-7 dollars and hour.

First off you should not charge her but pay her. Second it depends on the time of day and what day of the week it is. Also the number and the ages of your children also factor in.

My daughter goes to a home care and I pay an average of $35 dollars a day..pay the person according to your expectations of care. Are you asking that the person cook, clean etc while she is there? If so then I would suggest paying the person accordingly
