If you smoke in a room with the windows open will the smoke leave through the window automatically? or will the smoke stay in my room? or maybe even go pass the walls?

i love on the 3rd floor and when i smoke i use this little fan. i blow the smoke in front of the fan thinking it would be blown out the window but it seems that the smoke is blowing in....

Usually, the smoke goes out the window. If you are smoking a lot, it is obviously going to take a while longer to clear the room. The smoke does not go through the walls itself but vents or openings between apartments. Your neighbors may be able to smell it. You can try smoking a bit closer to your window, sitting on a balcony, or if you are really worried about someone smelling it, blow the smoke out through a paper towel roll with a few dryer sheets shoved in one end. Makes the smoke smell like clean laundry. :)

Depends on how the place is set up. Sometimes opening a window can cause a draft that actually sucks air into the room and out into the hallway through the gaps at the front door. If you have 2 windows normally opening or cracking both can remove this draft as the air pressure will be more equalized then.

I myself actually have a dual fan unit that sits in my window and is held there by the window (walmart like $35), since I smoke, I just leave the fan running all the time on low setting, so its always drawing air out and air cannot come back in against it for there is no openings.

I can stand at my front door and when I open it, I can actually feel a draw from the hallway. Nothing I do in this apartment, smoke, cook, candle, can ever be smelled in the hallway.

Ionic Breeze from Sharper Image is also a good item to remove smoke. And no, it won't go through walls.

Smoke can not go through plastered or sheetrocked walls...it can however travel through ventilation (heat/ac ducts) the fan and window thing is tricky....if there is a strong wind outside it will blow the smoke in...the best bet is to mask the smell inside the room with incense, stong candles and room sprays. One great tip is to take an empty paper towel tube, put a couple of scented fabric softener sheet in it and blow your smoke into the tube. It is definitely best to have the window open rather than closed because some/most smoke will leave eventually. Also if you are worried about the smell leaving a room you can wedge a towel in the crack of the door.

Smoke will not pass THROUGH the walls. Put the smoke down and lean your head out the window, your brain needs a little more oxygen. Smoke will be blown back into the room because the air pressure outside is usually considerably more than that inside. If you have a killer ventilation system then the aerodynamics change but you wouldn't be asking this question. The smoke will seep through every crevice and opening it can but it cannot pass through a non-porous material. So, unless you live in a room with fabric or thin paper walls, the smoke has simply found a crack.

Wait--I'm on my way over to check it out :D

I know that when I rode a Greyhound bus one time, if the driver's window was open, the smoke from the bathroom would blow right up front to his window. If his window was closed, the smoke would stay in the bathroom.

I know when my son, nextdoor is smoking--so it can go through the walls--or the windows (though both his and mine were closed). Guess it depends on how thick the walls and windows are.

Best thing to do is use incense, air freshener, or spray Axe Cologne around the room and on you--it's really strong, and kills the smell.

Have a great night :)

If you can smell it, it means that smoke can get through the walls, because you can smell it, you might breathe in the smoke, so just report this to police, if you are sure they have drugs...

Yes it does go threw walls. If you have a good freind with a house and he has a basement then smoke there it's perfect.

Cigarette and pot smoke will stay in your hair, clothes, room, carpet, curtaisn, bed sheets. pillows, etc. Some may leave the room but much will stay put.

Why did you post this on the religious category?????

Smoking destroys your lungs and brain cells. Your brain cells are the only cells in your body that cannot heal, repari themselves, nor replace the dead ones with now live ones. You aren't taking care of your body, thus sinning.
