how can i get my crush's attention?

alright..for this month, my crush and i joined in the same activity. i'm proud to say that i didn't plan it as i joined first.

anyway, this is the perfect opportunity for us to spend some time together - something we haven't had a chance to do in a very long time.

however, two problems:

one) i'm too afraid to come up to him and ask him to work alongside with me. not sure why i'm apprehensive - i just know that i am.

two) there is this other girl that joined too and at first, her and i were going to work alongside each other but now that we've learned that he's gonna be there too, she started telling everyone that her and him are going to be buddies.

what to do? advice is more than welcomed.
