odan,
I LOVE my country.
If the Iraqis had laid down their arms as instructed, they would not have been bombed.
Proof of WMD's found in Iraq:
http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/05/26/iraq.duelfer/index.html
Note...It was found in 2004...AFTER the start of campaign.
You're probably an al-qaeda sympathizer, if not, one of their brainless thugs...ready to give up?

The war in Iraq is a fact, just or unjust and debating it's relative merit serves no purpose at this point. It is a given most sane people wish it had never happened, but the reality of it is it did. It is still an ongoing problem, and contrary to popular media opinion, the war will continue well past the terms of Bush and Cheney. As a U.S. citizen, I believe that the Federal Government owes the population of the United States at the very least a definition of what is considered "victory" under such circumstances. Once defined, the full resources of the United States must be committed to achieving that victory.
The fact that Bush and Cheney are at best men of questionable moral fiber, with obvious alligence to corporate structure, and appear to have no obligation to those they were elected to serve, is a seperate issue. The United States clearly wasn't conquered by Saddam Hussien. If Iran must be destroyed to in order for the "Arab world" to understand that the United States will not be defeated, then, as horrific as the result would be, Iran should be given notice and time to surrender, and failing that destroyed.
I would take the position Truman did during WWII, weigh the cost of American lives lost to an invasion against the use of a nuclear weapon on Iranian targets, and bring the full might of the United States military to bear on Iran, provided they chose not to surrender.
Europe, Asia and the rest of the world can choose to either support Iran, and die with them, or support the U.S. and survive. I state this possible senario as a Liberal Democrat who does not support the political agenda's of the Bush administration. Conservative opinon on the subject would undoubtably be much more hawkish and pro-violence towards enemies of the United States.

US citizen, Viet Nam combat veteran.
First, war is about bombing and killing.
Second, there were no lies. A lie is an intentional misrepresentation of a known fact. You listen to too much anti-American propaganda from cowards and idiots like H Reid, N Pelosi and T Kennedy.
Believe it or not, most Americans, including and especially the men and women in our military, are good, decent, god-fearing people. Many of them are willing to put their lives on the line (think police, fire fighters, military) to defend and protect people like you so you can posit your stupid little question thinking that somehow you are enlightened. America has long been and continues to be the last best hope for this world. If you choose to deride or debase this country, you have the right to do so BUT if you do so in my presence, I will exercise my god-given right to knock you on your stupid, ignorant cowardly ***. It is the height of arrogance and conceit for you liberals to think you know or understand anything at all. Without this country, you probably would have been shot under a bridge somewhere just for asking this question. There is just no end to your kind of stupidity.

I love my country! How about you? I wasn't lied to and neither was anyone else! Bush is my President and if Hillary wins the next presidential election, she'll be my President even if I disagree with some of her policies. I am behind my President and for the United States of America whatever happens and whoever the President is. Maybe you should try it. It's called patriotism.

I agree that we went to war under false pretences, but I see no reason for us to continue with it. Too many American citizens (and others) have lost their lives in this war. The present administration has no conscience to allow this war to continue. I'm sure that if they had to sacrifice their own offspring, the "powers that be" would stop this war immediately.
