Its possible. They have found tombs with the names of Joseph, Mary, Jesus, Judas son of Jesus, and some others. 2000 years is a long time to trace geneology. Mary had the two sons, Jesus and James, unless she had any daughters, her mitochondrial DNA line ended there and we have no way to trace it back to be sure. Assuming we will never be sure, there is some evidence in the Bible that should be considered. Pontius Pilate did not want to crucify Jesus. Jesus committed no crime under Roman law. Jesus dies after only three hours on the cross, humans in a weakened condition take at least two days to die. Jesus disappears from his tomb. What if Pilate took pity on Jesus and his wife and mother and when he passed out had him cut down telling the Marys that they were to take him away and keep their mouths shut. They tended Jesus' wounds and then he left after three days. Popped in to say goodbye to his friends, bearing the scars and left. So little was known of the internal workings of the body that they could have really thought him dead, or known better and were trying to hush it up. Just a thought.

So how can it be proved? Jesus , Peter, and Mary were common names.
