I knew this guy for over 10 years. we been friends for the last 2 years. This past New years I hugged him and he whimpered as he was leaving. He was leaving my house but i am not sure if he was whimpering cause i squeezed him too tight or cause he had to leave. He did buy me a tea early that morning. so I just don't know if it means anything.

He been a good friend and we hugged before. but he just kinda whimpered or sighed when he had to leave and I don't know it is because we hugged or cause he didn't want to leave after spending a whole day together.

I think you would be safe to rule out that you physically hurt your friend. You have know him for a very long time now, and should be able to determine if this behavior (whimpering, sighing) is common for him. You did not say if he was, or had been dating anyone. Does he have a hard time expressing himself verbally, or is he shy? Do you think he might be depressed, or, has something major occurred in his life recently? Ask yourself some of these questions. If you are very close, then I would try and talk to him. See if he is okay, maybe he is interested in you romantically, and does not know how to approach you. If your friendship is strong, it will withstand some questions that you would like to ask him. True friends should be able to discuss situations openly, and honestly. Good Luck to you both.
