"Look, I think we need to talk. I've been doing a lot of thinking about us lately, because I don't think things have been working out all that well between us recently.
And thinking about us in that way killed me, but sometimes the right thing to do is often the hardest decision to make.
You mean an awful lot to me, and even though it sounds crazy, the reason i think we should stop seeing eachother is because I care about you so much. I don't want you getting hurt, and I want us to be able to get out of this before our problems worsen and we end up hating eachother.
I want to be friends with you so much, and i don't want you out of my life, but if you need time, i'll understand, and when you're ready, I'll be at the other end of the phone to be your friend."
Learn that off by heart!!!!

Personally? I'd never leave my bf, I love him way too much. But if I had to for some reason, my reason would most likely be that I'm not ready for a relationship and I'd TRY to end it as friends. But if I really think about it, it'd be too hard to end it as friends because we really love eachother and it would be hurtful. :]
I'd cry!

Tell them exactly how you feel, be honest, and tell them why your breaking up with them. No one wants to to left guessing about what they did wrong if they did do anything wrong,so dont just leave them hanging with " its over". If you feel that you still could be friends then tell them, but if you dont feel that way just go your seperate ways.

Don't use any of the common lines. Such as "it's not you, it's me" or "I want us to still be friends"
Just speak clearly, and say "I don't love you anymore." And walk away.
You don't have to go into reasons, just stand your ground and ask them to leave.

"I'm calling it quits right now. Do not call me, do not try to contact me. I am not interested in obtaining a friendship. If you threaten to kill yourself, go right ahead. I have knives, matches, and gasoline that you can use. Good bye and good luck."

Be honest and talk to her/him. Tell them why and do not remain friends, have no contact till you're both over each other.

Just say "I know what you did." Then when they say what and get all defensive, say it again "I know what you did". Then just walk out the door and leave. It makes them think its their fault. Works flawlessly.
