I have to disagree with eelliko for once: The machine translation does not give the right meaning. That "German" text sounds all too English. I'd translate it as "Wer sich zum Tier macht, erspart sich den Schmerz des Menschseins" or "Wer sich zur Bestie macht, erspart sich den Schmerz, ein Mensch zu sein".
