Ok I was watching a movie then a got a very weird and painful, pain in my neck. It was on the left side of my neck in the front. It was hard to swallow, then my left arm started to go numb starting at the hand. It last for maybe 20 second but it hurt like heck. Then the pain went anyway but my arm was still a bit numb. I'm fine now but it only been about an hour. Does anyone know what this weird pain might be, and some infomation about it?

Ok, It wasn't a pain in my arm. It went numb. Only pain in the neck.

Muscle pressing on nerve.
See a chiropractor and massage therapist who can work with you on the principles in the book at the bottom

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

It could be many different things. Not knowing how far it went down your arm... your age.. health status... blah blah... i could give you scenerios of possiblity. Could be compression to your brachial plexus (thoracic outlet syndrome)... that would cause the pain down the arm.

The left arm, especially the side of the pinkie is common with heart attack.

The lack of ability to swallow could be stroke...

Many organs, almost all from belly button up can refer into the arm.

I would make an appointment to the doctor for an EKG physical. Tell them what happened when you make the appointment. Could be (and I hope so)... a fluke, however... never assume.

Good luck to you.

This could be because of muscle fatigue or dehydration. Try exercising all parts of your body. It also sometimes is due to disuse atrophy. Try out some home remedies. You can also look for information in the web that give you home remedies. I found this website very useful. http://aches.in/cramps.html
