I agree with sasyone. However, let's start with basics first. Have you checked your oil level? If your oil level is low, that would certainly cause your gauge reading to fluctuate the way describe. If it is low, top it up to the proper level. If the gauge persists on fluctuating, it would be very wise for you to take it in, and have a manual gauge reading of the actual oil pressure. If you want a quick test you can perform yourself to verify proper gauge operation, pull the single wire connector from the oil pressure sending unit and jump it to ground. The gauge reading should climb all the way to high. Do this test with the key in the RUN position. Driving a vehicle around with low, or NO oil pressure WILL ruin your engine within MINUTES.

Listen if you don't have oil pressure your engine will chatter, and sound like monkeys beating under you hood.

If you are reading a oil pressure gauge then the gauge it's self can be bad or the wire connection at the oil sensor is loose.

By all means don't drive it at all. Don't even start the motor, dry metal rubbing together is not good for your engine.

If you absolutely know that you have no oil pressure then I'd change the pump. You never know it could be an oil sending unit that is bad. That would be a much easier job than replacing the pump especially if the pump isn't bad.

Your ruining the engine if you don't have any pressure,If you haven't done it already, you might want to get a direct reading gage and check to make sure what the pressure really is in case the gage you have is bad.
