Its funny, but most people who use the Crusades as an example of Christianity gone equally militant as Islam leave out one small issue...but for global Jihad, there would have been no Crusade.

The chruch invented the crusade concept to ward off Jihad, which was engulfing the world. In fact, the Jihadists made it to the gates of Vienna twice! They didnt simply usurp the Jewish and Christian holylands (keep in mind, their holiest of holys is mecca), they had overtaken the whole of India, middle-east, and parts of europe.

The problem the chruch had is that the creation of a religious duty to go to war had no basis in the new testament and thus it was entirely a chruch construct, which is why people today bash the Crusaders to heavly.

To Muslims bash the arabs who invaded India (greatest genocide ever) or took over the holy lands? Not at all, they ravenously defend it...as they should...it IS their doctrine...no contradition.

yeah thanks for putting that fact on the same page
it therefore becomes the height of hipocrisy when Muslims say the crusades were a violent assault on islam, when in fact, they were in response to the violence of islam.
I can not thank you enough for opening my eyes to this fact that for all, was hidden in plain view!
Can i vote you for best question?

Very interesting. I would tend to agree based on what you see, but I need to research your finds a bit, but they seem somewhat true.

Funny, we were never really taught this stuff in High School world history.

I've seen bits and pieces of it. Your Genocide in India, however, is new to me.

They are both ridiculous. What was ever the need to spread belief through war? Just plain idiocy.
