I am beginning to feel very uncomfortable hearing the cries of my neighbors' dog; not the whining kind, but in pain. My two dogs are also bothered, as they seem to hear it before I do. It affects them very much as they scratch the door, so I can let them out to bark at the neighbors. As for me, I hate going outside to my own backyard to hear the neighbors literally pound the dog with something I cannot see, but only hear. Usually its in the morning and during the evenings when I can hear them cuss at the dog to move and to say how stupid the dog is. Just recently, I heard them say how they were threatening to kill it and just cook it while they were hitting it. I find it very horrifying to hear such words being an animal lover that I am and to know by fact that they might actually cook it since they come from a culture where cooking dogs are natural. My main concern is what should I do to save the dog, but won't let them suspect I reported them, noting that I'm their only neighbor?

I already know about the ASPCA and called them many times regarding stray dogs. They are a big help, but I am just worried for the sake of my family in this household. I live behind an area that is really bad, somewhat like the ghetto. I stated that I am their only neighbor they could suspect because my whole yard is the width/length of their duplex. So they pretty much cannot suspect the others who live on the other side of their walls. I'm just worried they might bring people on that side to take down my family since there are so much shooting. In addition, they have a machete that I don't want to come near my family. My mother tells me she doesn't want problems coming our way if I reported them, but I told her that I cannot risk a dog's death behind our fence. Now, she doesn't want me to say anything anymore, but I cannot help it. I need to do something soon.

As being a fellow animal lover, I would recommend calling your local SPCA to help the animal. What they will do is come and check on your neighbor's dog, and will ask some questions to the owner about why they are doing this and they might ask you some questions also. This will probably let the neighbors know you called them [for you're their only neighbor] but if the dog has serious injuries they can arrest the owners and take the dog to the vets, and finally get him [or her] to a safer and better home.
I know this might get you worried about if they aren't arrested but most neighbors will keep quiet and if you want to see the SPCA in action to see what they do, just watch Animal Planet on your television.
To find out what their number is to call them you could probably look it up in the phone book or maybe on Google or something.

They may figure out it is you who's reporting them, but that poor dog needs help. Contact your local humane society or the ASPCA. You could call the police but they would probably say they can't really do much for an animal abuse case. The police would probably refer you to an animal humane organization.

go over there with a shot gun and tell them to give you the dog or you'll call the cops. have a cell phone in hand. and preferably a couple of big guys with you. or just steal the dog and be done with it. otherwise call the police anyway. report them not just humane society or anything, the police. animal abuse is a crime. and punishable. if you have to get a restraining order too. and have the shotgun and a couple of big guys too with you a all times.
i used to be afraid of people like that , but not anymore. if you let them know you ae serious and not afraid of conflict and will stand up for the dog, they most likely won't mess with you

You have to report them. No living thing should have to endure that kind of abuse. That makes my stomach turn to hear about this. Do that dog a favor & report them anonymously. Animal abuse is a felony in some states maybe a nice fine or jail will do them some good. Please do the right thing. If it is stopped in time the dog can be rehabilitated to trust again

I could not just stand by and do nothing. You must do what ever it takes to get this poor dog help. I would call the police dept and see what they suggest. I do understand your concern for your family, but you must help this poor dog. It is every ones responsibility to do the right thing in the kind of situation. I would steal that dog, before I would do nothing.

Call 411 and get a local number for an SPCA or a Humain Society to report possible animal apuse in most places the fines are stiff as there is a crack down on animal cruilty check into it they are just like children they cannot defend themselves so they need someone like you to speak for them. We need more people like you who actually care. Good luck and let me know how it turns out.

Well there is no way for them not to know that it was you unfortunately, unless maybe there are people that go down your road. You can report animal abuse to the animal shelter, ASPCA (if there is one in your area), Humane Society, and the local police. I hope that whatever agency you choose, it is in time. Far too often people don't react in time.

You need to call animal control or the Human Society. That dog can't speak up for itself, if you really love animals you will save this dog.

You can't control stupid people who never should own a dog.
What you can do is either call the police or your dog warden. I f you have an ASPCA in your town then call them to.

Dog abuse is a terrible crime and the people who report it are hero's!
