If you're in the United States, it's pretty important. Bilingual healthcare providers are becoming more valuable every day.

Very important! I am a dialysis technician and there is one hispanic lady that knows nothing about the english language but numbers and I have taken a spanish course but learned about nothing about medical terms. She had a problem with her arm hurting every day and no one could help her. A month later we got nurse that was hispanic and found out needed to go to vascular to get her site worked on. It was very serious and very irresponsible of the charge nurse to not help this woman. But things run much smoother and we now have 4 hispanics and they are learning english now that we have an interpreter!

Learning a different language is very important now days. I'm not in health care but in retail. Health care is much more important than what I do. Spanish is as I believe the second most used language in America today.

If you're in an are a with a high speaking Spanish population it's pretty important to know the basics or have an interpreter.

Imperitave. You need to know spanish. With the influx of sick and unhealthy illegal immigrants seeking healthcare (one of the MAIN reasons for their fleeing mexico) it's hard to get these people the right care and to the right agencies so hospitals and doctors can get paid by the government.

Very important it seems...don't you see how many immigrants are coming into this country. And receiving free health care benefits at that. You should definitely learn Spanish...pretty soon it will be a requirement.

Extremely. My girlfriend says (she's a nurse) that Spanish interpreters are getting $25 per hour and do not have to have medical certification.
