Does anyone know of a Bible verse or two about someone who claims they're a Christian, but doesn't act like it?

1-3 John How can one hate his brother if the love of God is in his heart?

How can you say you love Jesus when you hate your brother/ sister who you have seen.

Judge not lest thou be judged. Christians judging Christians based on self righteousness and not Christ righteousness.

Forgive others like Christ forgave you your sins and threw the far away. Unforgiveness.

They are called hypocrites. Now, understand that one has to be saved to be a christian. That doesn't mean he is not a sinner anymore. He still sins, but should not go out of his way to do so. A christian wants to follow God's command and be in fellowship with Him. If that persons lifestyle doesn't match that, then one should question their sincerity.

1. Hypocrites

The place of final judgment is where God will place hypocrites. Jesus said.

And will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites (Matthew 24:51).

A hypocrite is an actor, someone wearing a false face. Many religious people without a genuine relationship to Christ will end up in hell because they are merely pretending to be a Christian.

There are verses that seem to go against some who claim Christianity but I believe that if a person loves God and lives what he/she believes and keeps the commandments then they`re saved. We don`t all think alike .I`ve seen some who by their outer appearance you will know them to be Christians, but what about what they are inside?I `ve seen some that you wouldn`t think to look at them that they were Christians yet when talking to them you see a complete different person then you thought.I went to a funeral awhile ago and the preacher said something that made sense to me.He said that when and if we make it to Heaven we`re going to be surprised by who we see there and by who we don`t.I`m not the judge of anyone so I can`t give you a verse and point out how I think some one claiming Christianity has failed.God Bless.

You don't ACT like a Christian, you follow Jesus and what he said.

Jesus said buy a sword but don't live by it.

Jesus said when asked to carry the pack 5 miles carry it 10 miles.

Jesus said when asked for your coat, also give you cloak.

Few people, especially those who "claim" to be Christians actually do what Jesus said.

Jesus is a way of life.

And Jesus and his disciples drank wine and got roaringly drunk at the last supper.

Jesus did work on the sabbath and advocated it under certain circumstances.

Jesus told everyone to live a simple life, ask for what you need and do twice the work expected of you.

there are many verses that tell what a true follower(christian) of Jesus is to be like- they are known as the Ten Commandments- and Jesus said" if you love me you will keep the Commandments"- so which commandment is this person not following? and before you throw a stone- which one are you not keeping? READ Matt 5;17-19. why do people go to church on Sunday when the Bible says that the 7th day is the day God choose for us to honor Him? the 4th commandment- Keep the Sabbath? if you break one you've broke them all- let's look at ourselves before we throw stones at our fellow believers- God bless you

yes Jesus pointed out hypocrisy and denounced it in his Sermon on the mount. Matthew 6:1-4 says "Take good care not to practice YOUR righteousness in front of men in order to be observed by them; otherwise YOU will have no reward with YOUR Father who is in the heavens. 2 Hence when you go making gifts of mercy, do not blow a trumpet ahead of you, just as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be glorified by men. Truly I say to YOU, They are having their reward in full. 3 But you, when making gifts of mercy, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing, 4 that your gifts of mercy may be in secret; then your Father who is looking on in secret will repay you.
There was an incident reported in Acts 5: However, a certain man, An·a·ni′as by name, together with Sap·phi′ra his wife, sold a possession 2 and secretly held back some of the price, his wife also knowing about it, and he brought just a part and deposited it at the feet of the apostles. 3 But Peter said: “An·a·ni′as, why has Satan emboldened you to play false to the holy spirit and to hold back secretly some of the price of the field? 4 As long as it remained with you did it not remain yours, and after it was sold did it not continue in your control? Why was it that you purposed such a deed as this in your heart? You have played false, not to men, but to God.” 5 On hearing these words An·a·ni′as fell down and expired. And great fear came over all those hearing of it. 6 But the younger men rose, wrapped him in cloths, and carried him out and buried him.

Yes

Matt.11
[19] The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.
Luke.7
[33] For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil.
[34] The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!

Here is says Jesus himself looked like a sinner. So what does a "Christian" look like?

2Cor.5
[16] Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh:

Here is says you are not to look upon the man's outward fleshly appearance to know what he is. Christian or not, it doesn't matter. Outward appearance is not what matters according to this passage.

John.7
[24] Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
John.8
[15] Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.

Matt.21
[31] Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

If you read this whole chapter (Matt 21) you will see that Jesus says that the ones who look and act "holy" here are the ones who will most likey NOT enter into the Kingdom of God. Again more reference to that below.

Matt 23
[27] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
[28] Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

Only our inner light (Christ) can give us true judgment of what is good in a person.

John.9
[39] And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.

We have to become blind (outwardly) so that we can truly see what is before us spiritually.
