I have Win 98 in a Gateway that is about 8 years old. I cannot log onto Win Update. I have all the properly ActiveX setting enabled. I have tried all of the suggestions on the Windows Update, such as Deleting V4, pertinent Hidden Files, Iuctl.dll, Iuengine.dll , Temp files, cookies, etc.

Please help if you can. I am using a reputable Antivius and none is detected no trogans, worms or anthing of that sort.

Get UBUNTU or XUBUNTU. They are free, reliable and up to date operating systems. Once you have them installed you gain access to thousands of free programs provided by the open source community.

Windows 98 is no longer supported by Microsoft. If you are concerned about security updates and you want to use the latest software you should buy a new computer with the latest MS software. If you're adventurous you could try out Linux (see www.linux.org for more info). Make sure you use your computer behind a router/firewall for now.

Microsoft dropped support for Windows 98 last year. You will not be able to receive updates for the OS.

You need to try to buy a copy of Windows XP and upgrade. Or better yet buy a new computer with the OS installed already.
