Try getting a stuffed animal for him to sleep with and put a small ticking clock in bed with him it will remind him of moms heart beat.

Something is obviously wrong. My first suggestion would be to call a vet. Until then find a shampoo bottle, rinse it out and fill it with hot water, (it will stay hot for hours). Then get a clock, one that ticks. Lay the puppy next to the hot water bottle, they really like that, and put the clock close to him where he sleeps. Try to lay him in an enclosed area (playpen, kennel, crate etc.), with lots of soft stuffed animals and blankets. This should work. Is he eating? Get him some baby cereal (oatmeal) this is very gentle on his tummy and it will fill him up for the night. Mix it with a little warm water. If all else fails, you may have to lay him next to you or put your hand in where he sleeps for a couple of nights. Do not make it a habit, because puppies are much like babies and they will soon figure out that if they cry, they will get what they want. Just comfort him for the first few days and get him in to see the vet as soon as possible. We have a new puppy too and these are some of the things we have done. My parents are both vets for 16 years, and these are the things they told me to do when I first brought my puppy home. Good luck with your little guy. :)

He probably does. Don't take it personally though. Most puppies will cry when they are first taken into a new home. Just make sure that you show him a lot of love, attention and give him toys. Make him feel at home. Past that I don't really know how to help you. And don't listen to anyone if they say you are mean for making your puppy cry it's not your fault.

Not sleeping. Most pups cry alot in the first few days, probably
because they miss mom or siblings. You should have your
dog in a crate. NO matter what you do the dog will cry.
Just put the dog in another room and eventually this will stop.
Sometimes it takes a few nights, and some dogs take a little
longer. Usually though it lasts for a night or two. Try not to go
to the pup when he is crying cause he will continue this, to get
you to come to him. Just try and be patient. I have been there
and lost many hours of sleep. But it will be fine in a few days.

I raised a puppy from 3 days old. She cried ALL THE TIME, except it was usually when she was hungry.

I kept her beside my bed and when she woudl cry I'd put my hand down and let her cuddle on it. Sometimes I would pick her up and let her sleep on my chest for a while.

Stuffed animals and blankets help too.

The crying stops eventually. My dog now weighs over 100 pounds and is 3 years old.

Try contacting the place you got him from and giving him the some of the same things they had. With our dog we put a kennel in a secluded area and left it open with her food and water in it also a snuggly blanket and an old shirt with my scent on it in the kennel, that way she could go in and out of it when she needed to be alone or felt overwhelmed by our 3 children. Make sure it has lots of bones or toys which ever you and your puppy prefer. I found this to be the best way with ours and my parents have always tried to keep what the breeder was doing similar in our home, we've had lots of dogs throughout the years. Good luck and have fun.

He shouldn't be crying all the time. That would be a sign something might be wrong.

If he cries when you kennel him or at night that is normal.

At night I would keep my puppies in a kennel beside my bed. If they cried I could put my fingers through the bars to comfort them. I also had a stuffed dog that I kept with the litter before I brought them home. The smell of their litter mates helped them sleep. If you don't know the litter mates then you could try a plain old stuffed animal.

He’s just scared. Keep activity around him to a minimum and give him a comfortable place to sleep.

I know listening to a puppy cry for hours is not pleasant, but you need to be patient and realize that he is 10 times more distressed than you are. Some puppies take it harder than others. He just needs time. There probably isn't any way to "make" him stop.

Oh you poor thing. Pups do cry alot when you get them home.
They miss their litter mates and the mom. He will quiet down in a week or so. Until then you can just comfort him and show him he's loves. If your crate training him then you can try to make him more comfy if you get a large soda bottle fill it with warm water screw the cap on tightly and wrap a towel around it. Place it into the crate with your pup and it give him something warm to snuggle up to. Sometime 2 soda bottles can be better.

Good luck!

He does miss his home/mom. Try keeping him in a small place kennel box/crate/box. he misses mom's warmth so if you have a heat pad to turn on low (make sure he can't chew cord) or a stuffed animal he can snuggle with that may help. I've also heard that an alarm clock's tick reminds them of moms heartbeat. He is lonely and if you plan on keeping him in the house and sleeping on your bed you can start bonding now.

Well it could be that he is used to being with his mom. Try putting him really close to your chest and lay down. If he feels your warmth and hears your heart beat it will remind him you his mom and this should calm him down. If this doesn't work just try giving him a stuff animal to snugle with. He may also be winning because he needs to go to the bathroom. I had a puppy that would only go to the bathroom outside, where as most puppy will go anywhere in the house. Try taking him outside to walk around and use the bathroom.
