be straight...give him notice and ask him to leave...no one has the right to make you feel uncomfortable in your own home!

if you cant muster up the courage then you better have a friend or your partner help you!

worse comes to worse put a bottle up the drive and when he runs for it you can slam the door behind him!

seriously though come on babe....if he is being silly...then u shudnt tolerate it....so what if he is your brother in law...you may be feeling guilty but u know what if he maintained his self respect then that would have been a different matter....you are under no obligation to keep someone like him in your home!

go girl!

if he's a brother-in-law, I assume this is a spouse's blood family member??? If that is the case, have you spoken to his natural kin?
Do you two have an agreeement that he has to go? You two need to present a united stance against the brother-in-law's behavior. It would mean so muchn more if there were two of you saying, we have discussed and we agree that we don't want...
Be prepared to call the authorities if the fool tries anything. Sometimes alcholics can become difficult. It's the booze courage speaking.
They usually snap out of it at the first sign of a uniformed officer. Remarkable how that works. Isn't it?

Give him a specific time he will need to be out (that is if he is just a house guest, not a tenant) and tell him he will have to find other living arrangements because it isn't working out.

If he pushes the issue, tell him you aren't going to help him stay in his sickness and it hurts you to watch him continue. If you have an alcohol recovery center/hospital in your area, hand him the information and tell him if he cares at all for himself or your sister, he will seek help. Tell him you don't want to be part of his demise.

Good luck and be strong!

You simply tell him it's your house and he has to go or you will call the police. You have to take a stand with someone like this, otherwise you are an enabler. It's tough, but ya got to do it. In the long run , you'll might be saving his life.

When he is sober, when he is in a right state of mind, talk to him. Tell him that he cannot stay with you anymore. That you can't stand being with him. And That he needs to really think about his life and be responsible for it.

I hope it turns out well for you! Well, i know it's not easy, so the best of luck to you... take care

Sending him on a long errand a few minutes before you have the locksmith over to rekey all the doors should work handsomely. Just set his bags on the front stoop before he returns then refuse to answer the door.

Don't enable him. Have him do what he wants you to do. Certainly no booze in the house. Get tough and throw out all liquor. He will roar but leave for that next drink.

Tell him you have buried liquor in the park. Give him a bogus treasure map. He'll leave.
