ok so I have been researching the topic but it only gets me more confused? An Agnostic is someone who does not deny god but says that it is impossible to know for sure if there is a god, BUT an Atheist is someone who does not believe in god at all.
Well my problem is because I dont believe in god BECAUSE no one can know for sure if there is actually a god. I refuse to believe something written on a rock 5000 years ago. So what does this make me... Atheist or Agnostic? Please help.

well I know the difference =]
but I mean The reason I dont believe in god is because you can never know! Something written on a rock is not gonna convince me that there is a god.

The terms "agnostic" and "atheist" are often confused.
"Agnostic" means a-gnostic, or literally, without-knowing. Agnostics don't believe in gods, but neither do they disbelieve, because they think there's no way of knowing for certain either way.
"Atheist" means a-theist, or literally, without-gods. An atheist is one who has no belief in a god or gods.
Just to make it more confusing, there are two types of atheism: "weak" atheism, which is simply lack of belief in any god; and "strong" atheism which goes one step further to "I believe there is no such thing as god."
I'm a strong atheist. At the moment, you're a weak atheist (please note, "strong" doesn't mean "better") with an agnostic perspective.
For what it's worth, I think you're quite correct that the existence of an omniscient, omnipotent entity of astronomical proportions is something that can never actually be known. I'm a little more confident than you, in that I think that that the likelihood of any such thing existing is so small as to be not worth bothering about.
You need to do some more research, and take your time; there's no hurry to understand everything at once, you know.

Agnosticism as you stated is the belief that it is not possible to know if there is or is not a God.
Atheism comes from two Greek words, a the negator, and theos, God. Atheism teaches that there is no God of any kind, anywhere, anytime. Some atheists claim to "exercise no belief in a god" the same way they would exercise no belief in pink unicorns. Logically, an atheist would be an evolutionist.
The Bible teaches that all men know there is a God (Rom. 2:14-15). Therefore, they will be without excuse (Rom. 1:20 ) on the Day of Judgment. Instead, atheists willingly suppress the knowledge of God by their unrighteousness (Rom. 1:18-19).
I was in your shoes at one time. I hope you will check out the links below and take sometime to research your decision.

You're Agnostic. Maybe Agnostic Atheist by chance. But I think that you are more Agnostic as you don't totally deny the possibility of any higher power. Well since you say that you don't believe in any god you are an Atheist.

If you do not believe-- atheist.
If you decide you will never know-one way or the other-if there is a god-agnostic.
But, as you hopefully know, the label does not really matter.
There are several people who call themselves agnostics with different beliefs--similarly with atheists, Christians, etc.
-edit--
Now--do you not believe in any god--or the idea of the Christian God? Because there are also Deists, who believe that the universe was created by some being but he does not interfere with it.

So you say that you "dont believe in god BECAUSE no one can know for sure if there is actually a god." But, really, that is actually no one can know unless God reveals Himself to them (if He is, in fact, really there).
Would you agree with that?
I mean, in the hypothetical situation that there really were a God, we *would* be able to know He was there if He revealed Himse;f to us, right? Like, revealed Himself like a personal introduction?
Would you agree with that? Or do you admit that you just don't want there to be any God in reality? If you admit that there could be a God, then I suppose you could call yourself an agnostic. If you say that there is no God, even if there really is one, then that would make you an atheist.
(Of course, often, those that call themselves agnostics turn out to be passive-aggressive atheists...)

You can be both. I am both. It's a matter of degrees. Sometimes people use the term 'strong atheism' to denote someone who fervently believes there are no gods. I am quite certain there are no gods, but obviously one wouldn't know. I tend to call myself atheist.
Atheism is far and away the best guess. Scientists reserve the right to take a guess, especially when it is the best.

If you think there's possibly something out there, but you're not quite sure of their significance, then you're agnostic. If you actively do not believe there is a Diety, then you're atheist.
