use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and wash every other day or every 2 days...use silicone based products or creme based straighteners for styling and air drying.. if you use gels or mousses the alcohol in these products can dry your hair out... trim it often and just wait till some of the products start being absorbed in your hair...good luck

common myth: straighteners "fry" your hair.

yes, they can fry your hair if you use them incorrectly

make sure when you straight, you do the following things:

1. use the correct temp. for your hair type. warmer for more resistant hair, less warm for porous less resistant hair
2. use a thermal protecting spray, and make sure it's a good one. many sprays out there actually cause more damage. good protectors are biosilk by farouk, hotsets by redkin, iron guard by chi. another great product is anti-snap by redkin. it really helps with damaged hair
3. use a ceramic iron. CHI is good, another good one is ISO, and yet another is called the fusion. these are all pricey, but totally worth it. many ceramic irons on the market are actually only 60-70% ceramic and 30-40% metal, making it just as damaging as a metal iron.

Your using a straightener with metal plates, aren't you? Get a GOOD quality flat iron with TRUE ceramic plates (some are just coated with ceramic) like a CHI. I use my CHI every DAY and I never have a problom with it. Also use good quality producs from a salon and you will have no probloms at all.
Good Luck!

try using a deep conditioner on your hair for awhile. you can also use a reconstructor to help build the strenght of your hair back up.

i wouldn't straighten your hair anymore for awhile...or atleast do it as little as possible. also check the heat on your straightener and use the lowest setting available. refrain from blow drying your hair for awhile if you can. this will help to get it healthy again.

try switching to a ceramic straightener for the future. i included some sights with my favorite products on them.

Use a lot of conditioner on your hair, and have your hair trim regularly, it require a lot a time and patient.
