Don't go to the movies. You want to be able to talk to each other, not sit in silence.
Maybe go get something to eat (nothing too fancy or stuffy).
If you live in a big city, check out the local paper beforehand to see if there are any art shows or festivals going on.
A sporting event might be fun, too.
You might want to keep it on the short side (no marathon date) in case you aren't really hitting it off.

considering you're at a young age....just the norm of getting to know your date better in terms of conversation. maybe for a dinner and walk.
for "mature" adults it would be the same too but progresses at a faster pace but usually the same during the same date.

nice dinner(sit down w/waiters/waitresses)and maybe a movie afterwards. best to keep it open. other things to do after dinner could be take a walk, go window shopping, go for drive, do something fun but that it is not too unusual that way both of you are still comfortable.

movies are good but if there are any fun park like things near where you are those are good as well...... rock climbing and go carts followed by a trip to an ice cream shop are all good ideas... it sort of depends on the stuff surrounding your area, if theres mini golf maby go for that..........

on the 1 date i would wanna keep it simple liike a movie. or the park.

movie theater. i live in nyc so some nice pizza place wouldnt seem awkward. its pretty tone down and not so serious
