Well, I'm in high school, and it's kind of getting popular with the kids in my school for some reason. There are lots and lots of Christians in my school, but not as many as there used to be. A lot of people I know that used to say they were Christians have now become Athiests. Most likely because they wanted to be friends with an Athiest...I think I'll stick with being a Christian..But anyway..I'd hate to connect anything to Myspace, but it's become really popular to those peopleon Myspace that you see with the unoriginal profiles..Copy everyone else, and then they write 3 page long things on how they're Athiest and if you really cared about them you wouldn't try to push Jesus on them and stuff.

Dude, it's not a belief at all. It's a complete lack of beliefs. It's knowing as opposed to believing. But yes, it is a movement that is becoming more and more popular. And rightfully so because, as this pile of accumulated human knowledge continues to grow, it's only natural that we set aside previous attempts at answering the unanswerable which is where religion found its roots.

Atheism is certainly the norm here in England. I only know a handful of people who are religious. For everyone else it's effectively irrelevant.

Not in the USA.
The number of atheists is definitely increasing, but the majority in America still mistrust atheists more than almost any other demographic group.
One example: can you picture a known atheist winning an election in America?
