In a previous question this was the answer.
(1999 Ford Taurus SE)
I need this done:

It sounds like the relay feed wire is broken. The break usually happens in the rubber goose neck that protects the wires between the a post and the driver's door. Just pull back the rubber sleeve and connect the broken wire(s) with butt connectors.

How do i do this, where do i start, what parts do i need and whats a butt connector?

A butt connector is an electrical connector you can buy at auto parts stores or home improvement places like home depot. They allow you to 'butt' the ends of two wires together and splice them together. You will also need a crimping tool or a pair of channel locks to crimp the splice to the wires . Look in a repair manual to get the wire colors you are looking for, then once you get past the rubber sleeve, you can find the wire you suspect. I like to pull on the wire, and if the wire is broken, the insulation will stretch, then I cut the insulation and put a butt splice on it and your back in business.

You can use either a butt connector and crimp it properly, or strip the two halves of the wire, slide over a piece of shrink tube BEFORE you re-attach the two wires. Solder the two wires together. Heat the shrink tube until the glue oozes out of both ends. Resecure with electrical tape, and you're good to go. Hope this helps.
