I had put raw steak in the fridge the day before yesterday.... Is it safe to cook and eat.. I thawed it out, and then put it in the fridge because we had decided not to eat it the other night... and it has been in there since... I cooked it for dinner but haven't tried it yet.... I was just curious as to your opinions.... THANKS!!

It has been kept cold in a zip lock bag with some marinade.... It was in the freezer for a week or two after we bought it, then I thawed it and put it in the fridge...

Hi Prettymama,
If you ever have meat specially steaks and you want to keep for
a while cover them in a marinade, then cling as long as they are
totally covered they will last up to 4 / 5 days .........
Marinade ......
Sliced onion
Sliced carrot
Sliced celery
Whole black pepper corns
Bay leave
Olive oil
Red wine
Mix everything together well, this will also infuse the flavour of
your meat, when required just finger wipe down and shallow fry
Tip: very little oil required as moisture retained from marinade
............. bon appetite

It should be ok. Smell is usually the key - if it smells OK, then it's probably OK. Beef seems to have a better longevity in the fridge than chicken. I have eaten beef that's been in the fridge for 2-3 days and it was fine. You said you thawed it out - if you left it out a room temperature, it would be subject to bacteria. That would be OK if you cooked it at a high enough temperature, but rare or medium rare might be a problem. Bottom line, if you have any reason to think it's not OK, don't eat it.

i'm sure it's fine except it a may have become over marinated. my favorite marinade is adolphs original, but don't marinade for more than 30 min. or the meat gets mushy especialy with more tender cuts. other marinades are better if steak is marinaded up to 8 hrs. or over night. but yours was in marinade for how long ?
cook it anyways. you got nothing to lose. throw it away after you cook it if its over marinaded.

It will be fine, also if you had it in a marinade it will be very tender when you make it. Be sure to broil the steak and not pan fry, it comes out much tastier.

your fridge, my fridge different. Your steak my steak different.
In the best conditions it should be fine to eat. But as a chef I must say "when in doubt, don't"

It'll be fine to eat if that's what you ask.
Whether or not it will be chewy or tough will depend on the cut you bought and how hard you cooked it.

If it was kept cold, all during that time, you can make it. Has it dis-colored, or does it smell a little "off". If so, throw it away, or give it to fox, raccoons, opossums, etc.

Yes, it's fine. If it's still red and smells like beef then you'll be good.
