Now that is one long run-on sentence!

OK - first things first - if you tried to clean install windows xp from an original CD, there should NOT be any files missing. You said that it worked on your friends...ok????

So - whatever you did, try it again. Make sure you do a clean install by formatting during the process.

PS - please no shortcuts on this board like "some1". You have a lot of characters to work with. Its not a cell phone text message. You can also click the check spelling button.

If you are trying a clean install, then there should be no problem but if you are doing an upgrade installation, your current OS is preventing the upgrade to do so.
