I think God would understand choosing to jump rather than being burned to death.

Your Bible teacher couldn't answer this for you because it goes against her understanding of the Bible and Christianity. On one hand, she probably wanted to believe that the jumpers would be forgiven. On the other, to say so would possibly question her beliefs. You had her between a rock and a hard place.

Hmmmm .... such a hair splitting question.

Look, those people all have died under horrible conditions. Do you condemn the few among them for their last second decisions to ease their own suffering, hurrying things along?

Forget about heaven and hell... that's just a heap of nonsense. Satisfy yourself that you are able to forgive the innocent people who were made to suffer such catastrophes at the time of their death.

This is a question of human compassion and not one of belief in gods and old books. This is an event of your very own time and not of the vague happenings thousands of years in the past. Build your beliefs upon what you know to be true and not upon what you are taught to be truth. The people of 911 have died, not as devils or saints but only as victims - tragically innocent victims - just people. And remember, they died at the hands of a few politico-religiously driven fanatics and none were saved by your "God" or any other god.

If you're still thirsty for a taste of the damnable, Damn the idea of god by any name. That's the greatest lesson to be learned from 911.

Die a slow and painful death.... or a quick one... either way your dying.. I would pick the jump.

Anyways I would think your god would hold a special place for the people in the buildings... I would assume since they got blown up they get a "get out of hell free" card.

If not... then I am glad I do not believe in that god...

The Bible teaches us to"believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved."While that person jumped no one knows what was in their hearts or minds.Jesus was and is the only one who knows .To help you understand a little better. Those people where gripped in fear. They jumped with maybe a prayer of forgiveness on their lips.Remember we serve a great loving Father. The only way they went to hell is if they rejected Jesus. You ask a question that many should ask.Jesus can save a person in the blink of an eye. After all he is only a prayer away.

Oh my what a dreadful thought for a friend or a family member to have to worry about. Dear one, people don't go to hell for committing suicide, God knows the terrible stress that those dear souls were living under. There is only one sin that leads to hell, that is rejecting Christ. God is fair and loving if one of my loved ones was in that terrible position and had to jump I would trust that God would forgive them. They really only had two choices on how to die. My God, I feel so sad when I think of all those people. It was a heartbreak for all of us, including God. One more thing, they had some time to make peace with God, so I imagine many of them said a prayer before they fell to their deaths. So sad.

I just wanted to say that this is a great question. The Christian faith does teach that suicide will condemn people to hell, so I wonder what this situation is designated as. Hope to read some really interesting answers.

What if, they knew that they were going to die and chose to do it the less painful way.
What if, they prayed to God just before the jumped........certainly he would understand in this scenario.
What if, to them it was not actually jump.......maybe the were running from flying debris, hot flames, panic, etc.
What if, they were stuck agains the glass or window and some backdraft did not happen, essentially blowing them out of the window.

Why do you say it is suicide?

I am yet to find a place in the bible where it says suicidal people go to hell.

They jumped because they were trying to escape the flames.
It wasn't suicide. NO the good among them will not go to Hell.

May God bless them with Peace and bring the evil doers a harsh punishment.

If there is a God and all he did was to watch those people suffer, knowing what fate was about to happen to the well in advance and he did nothing to help them, then he is evil. It is not offensive, but those poor people suffered and God did nothing. He is all powerful (supposedly) and still did nothing. If there is a heaven and a hell, and since God did nothing, then please send me to hell as the devil appears to be kinder.
