Is the main difference between evolutionists and creationists the fact that if there were some huge discovery showing that evolution is, in fact, false, evolutionists would not support evolution (hypothetical), but, if there was a huge discovery disproving god (hypothetical), creationists would ignore it?

I think arguing over the internet kinda loses the point of arguing, but it's fun anyway

ding, ding.......we have a winner.

Scientist are the most critical of their work and conclusions(evidence) from their work, depicts their beliefs. If evidence was found disproving the speed of light, we have no choice but to throw the old theory out the window. If evidence is found that disproves God, christians just recite some biblical text and because it is printed in the bible it must be correct, therefore making the proof wrong.
Go figure!

The quarrel between Evolutionists and Creationists is a stupid one.
Evolution is a scientific fact that can be tested in any Biology laboratory, but that does not disprove (or prove) the existence of God and the act of Creation.
Because the Creation may very well be an ongoing evolutionary process and not a single one-time-only creative act by God.
How can we tell "which method" God has chosen to perform his Creation?
Please, disregard the mythological stories of the religions.
They are mainly symbolic, and they have been written to be understood by the average people living about 2 thousands years ago.

The difference between Evolutionists and Creationists is that Creationists believe in a creator and in intelligent design, there is such a thing as evolution.

BTW evolution breaks the exact scientific methods is claims to come from.

You can not get something from nothing. FACT
You can not have something that is always there with no origin. FACT

God is supernatural. Creationism explains how a supernatural being created time, space, earth, humans, all life as WE know it. Angels, the other realm before time is a whole different subject.

Evolution is a human attempt to explain the unexplainable. Unexplainable events happen daily however we can not accept this, so we come up with theories on how they can occur.

Human evolution is such a thing, however we did not come from apes, nor were we cavemen at anytime. We were created in his image, almost destroyed b/c of our wickedness and have now been given an opportunity to reunite with our maker through faith.

Please tell me you don't believe either can prove anything beyond a shadow of a doubt, b/c then I have just wasted my time with my answer.

It is faith vs human excuse or "logic"

God Bless

That's accurate. To wit, see:

Perhaps THE leading "creation scientist" - geologist Kurt WIse, famously said:

"I am a young-age creationist because that is my understanding of the Scripture. As I shared with my professors years ago when I was in college, if all the evidence in the universe turns against creationism, I would be the first to admit it, but I would still be a creationist because that is what the Word of God seems to indicate."

There is no fundamental difference between "evolutionists", otherwise known as scientifically educated people, and "creationists", otherwise known as people of faith. This is clearly shown by the fact that a great many people are both well educated scientifically AND people of great faith in God. I count myself among that group since I am a professional biologist and a devout Christian. Truth cannot conflict with truth, and there can never be any genuine conflict between the facts revealed by science and the truth revealed by the Bible through CORRECT and authoritative interpretation.

The main difference is that evolution is a scientific theory supported by over 150 years of evidence, and creationism is a religious fairytale unique to each religion.

But I would agree with you on your other point. If it was proven tomorrow that evolution does not account for speciation I would no longer accept that explanation.

I have no vested interest in supporting evolution.

Either way there will come a day when both may exclaim the same words when a natural disaster strikes like an asteroid. As for any alleged raptures they might also be very suprised as to who shows up to take them. Maybe they already have been as in the well known phrase; Abduction. (The other white meat?)

evolutionists believe the earth is billions of years old yet science has proved that the sun grows 5 feet a year as do all stars so for the earth to be millions of years old is not possible because millions of years ago the sun would have been to small to sustain life on earth including single cell organisms.a good scientist doesnt believe one or the other just the cold hard facts.

science can be tested and retested and retested, and be proven wrong.
Faith cannot be tested, creationists do not ignore it, they brood over it, and then let it go. Of course it stays in the back of our heads until we find a source to refute it. You cannot disprove a persons faith.

Exactly right, but you're talking about the difference between religion and science, really. Science was borne out of the "why not", while religion was borne out of fear of the unknown, and the desire not to find out.
