Just wondering if theres anybody here who has got their hair chemically straightened and if so did it:
- damage your hair alot and thin it?
- did it last until the roots came?
- does it actually straighten your hair? or just make it wavy?
- would i be able to wash it and have it dry so that it isnt really straight but moderately?
- does it require alot more care after the straightening?
- was it affordable?

dont expect you to answer all the questions but im just asking the ones i wanna know if you have answers to any it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

p.s. if it helps to determine the questions, my hair is a messy sorta curly, not nice lol, hense the reason i want it permantly straightened.

Before I go into detail the answers:

1)Yes everything you do will damage ur hair (everything-combing even does, drying it with towels, useing a iron, ) unless u just wash your hair then let it dry by it self and never comb it would it not get damaged.. so dont be so worried about it..Also you are always loseing hair and getting it back, you may not noticed tell you take a shower or comb your hair cause your messing with it then, its only natural unless its comeing out in handfulls then u need to seek help.

2) Yes Both times the hom treament and the solon one took about 3 months then i started to noticed it

3) well neither got my hair pin straight, no matter what you still have to style it after you wash it, and Mine is medium with lots of frizz

4)Yes I prefer the home treatment, I know this may make people that work at a solon mad, but i do prefer the home treatment and it helps if you have a friend to help, timer and do A strand test on ur curliest part of your hair 1st, then you will see what the results will be, the time i went to a solon, she use heat with the chemicals NO NO bad ideal if they say they do that at a solon dont let them walk out to a new solon if you dont do the home treament, I had it with heat and no heat it came out so much frizzier with heat,

5) Hair doesnt reguire more care just care, If you already care for your hair as u should then no, most at home treaments come with a after care solution, just always use shampoo and a condition every wash and deep every few days , even a hot oil treatment if u have time

6) 40$ plus tip for solon
8$ for box then you can use the 30$ left over to get stuff for your hair or just sa$e

P.S Just remember No matter what you do in ur daliy activities you are always loseing hair, and getting it back you just cant tell, so have fun and do strand test !st if you get the box that strand test will let you know if u want the box or not here are a few reviews of the box by they way good and bad so u decide :-)

If you have fine hair that's a little dry, stay away!!! Although this product did straighten my hair, it completely ruined it as well. My hair wasn't too damaged to begin with, but was a little dry from heat styling. This straightener made it straw-like and spongy, and broke off a lot of hair all around my head. I didn't even leave it on for half of the directed time. Maybe it works for people with normal hair, but fine-haired people should not use this product.

This product will do what exactly what it says, unless your hair is resistant to it. My hair is supe-thick, somewhat curly and frizzy in texture, and dry. This worked great, made my hair much straighter and smoother- although I would need another treatment to make it perfectly straight. For six months of straight(er) hair, I think it's really good stuff.

I have used all types of straighteners from shampoos, conditioners, leave in treatments to straightening appliances, paying anywhere from $20 to $100. This product by far is the best. I followed the instructions, the smell was annoying, but so what? The results are absolutely worth it. I usually blow dry and then iron my hair, but all I did after the treatment was air dry my hair. It was pin straight! I even went to sleep without wrapping my hair to keep it straight (which is a nightly ritual), but with this, I just slept on it and woke up to the same straight hair. I will definitely try this again in 3 months. Love it!

all chemicals that you put in your hair will damage it. But i guess if you straighten your hair every single day you might as well do it cuz straightening or blow drying will do the same thing. Get Japenese Straightening system its the best out there!! You would get a re-touch 6 mths-1 yr depending on your hair grows. The roots might look a little wavy but you can just straighten it or blow dry and it will go away.

For some people after they wet it it will be STRAIGHT but for others it might be wavy but it will be easier to straighten and won't take as long. You will need to buy leave in conditioner and maybe some treatments at least once a month to keep your hair healthy. Buy shampoo and conditioner that is for relaxed hair. It will help your hair a lot.

It is expensive though it can range from $200-800 it all depends on how long the stylist pays per hour and how long your hair is.

Any kind of chemical treatment from color processing to straightening can damage hair. However, chemical relaxers tend to be more flexible on the follicle. It shouldn't thin your hair or cause it to become brittle, bleach is usually the cause for that. Most people straighten their hair about every 6 months, once they have ample root growth, but once straight, it stays. Most treatments like this will make your hair pin straight, but like most people if you let your hair air dry you might get a little wave. After straightening, it requires less care than when it was curly and doesn't require a lot of styling products.

As for cost, it always varies depending on the place you go but it generally can cost between $500-$800, which is why most stylists only take cash and/or service deposits. If you are a little more brave look for your local beauty school and ask if any of their senior classes need models or offer the service. It tends to be a little more affordable.

I have super curly hair and I have gone through the whole chemical process when I was younger. It doesn't do CRAP! It's a waste of your time and money for sure. And yes, it does damage your hair. My hair was so dry afterwards. It took several treatments to bring my hair back to life. Your hair will still be curly after you wash it and you still have to either flat iron or blow dry straight. You can easily do those things without the chemical process and still get it perfectly straight. Don't do it.

heyy. i myself have the same kind of hair that you described for yourself. i straighten my hair every night and have also thought of permantly straightened!

but i wanted to tell you about a friend of mine that had it done-- her hair was like out of control curly and after it was like a frizzy straight. it was like when you see girls that tried to straighten their hair but it didn't work all the way. i also noticed that as her hair grew out, her roots were as curly as her natural hair.

i don't know if that helped, but i hope that it did.

If you get someone that knows how to do the JAPANESE PERM good then go for it. Use the shampoo and conditionar and please if you're black dont do it. I've seen soo many horrible disasters when black people try to do a JAPANESE PERM.
