You know how everyone kids that women always go to the bathroom in groups...well it starts with potty training. Everytime I had to go I would hold out my hand and ask my little girl if she wanted to go potty with mommy (she wanted to go everywhere mommy went!). She would sit on the little potty and I would sit on the big potty....worked like a charm with some encouragement for both my girls. Tell her that big girls use the potty and praise her for using it. We would sing songs and just anything to make it pleasant.

She's not quite 2, so I wouldn't worry too much. Maybe show her movies and books (they do exist, really!) about potty training. When she shows discomfort that's a sure sign that she's ready. Don't worry, just make it as positive an experience for her as possible, and don't get upset if she has accidents. That's going to happen a lot at first. Since she's a smart girl, I think she'll pick up on it quickly.

Don't push her just yet. DO what you're doing. Encourage her, and make it a fun thing....but she's very young yet. Many kids aren't trained until they're over 2. She may not be ready. Let her go when you go. You sit on the big potty and pee, while she sits on her little potty. I know...it's a little embarassing for you maybe, but it isn't like she'll remember it. You're just showing her. Fathers show sons. Mom's can show daughters.

Unfortunately, most kids will do it in their own time. I started my daughter wearing pullups at about 2 and a half yrs old. I always put her on the potty and let her flush the toilet. She got used to the idea and wasn't afraid of it. Then, once she turned three, we went cold turkey and went right into panties. It took three weeks for us to be accident free, but we finally did it. She had to have her "a-ha" moment before she really got it. But she now only wears a pullup during her naps and bedtime...just in case.

The pullups webpage has a lot of good advice and strategies. Good luck.

She's not going to potty train until she's ready. When she starts to show interest that's when you start to teach her. Some kids just aren't ready that early.
Let it rest for a few weeks and see if she takes any interest.

If you try to potty train her before SHE is ready, all you'll be doing is causing yourself and her headaches. I have found that when children are ready to do something, they do it. If I try to push it before they are ready, it's next to impossible and we just get frustrated with each other. Don't compare your baby to anyone else's and don't be in a hurry to get her out of her "babyhood". She'll be 13 before you know it and trust me, she'll be potty trained. She's a girl. She'll get finicky one of these days and decide that diapers are for babies. Sit back, relax and let your baby let you know when she's ready.

GET A POTTY SEAT THE KIND THAT SITS ON THE FLOOR (NOT ON THE BIG POTTY ) EXPLAIN WHAT IT'S FOR LET HER CHECK IT OUT AND SIT ON IT, BUT DON'T PUSH YOU WILL GO CRAZY! SLOW DOWN KIDS GROW SO FAST. YOU WILL MISS THE BABY DAYS.
