Is he a medium or large breed dog? Does his abdomen look distended or bloated? If so, this is an emergency and you need to get to a vet NOW. It could be a problem called GDV or Bloat, and it is very quickly fatal if untreated. I hope this is not what your dealing with, but if so please dont wait.

If you can get some fresh grass, that might help him bring up whatever is bothering him. And keep an eye on his water intake. Don't let him drink a whole lot,as he might just bring it all back up. Let him have small amounts, even if you can give it to him with a medecine syringe that you ight use for children's medicine. Definately get pup to a vet if this persists.

It might be hairballs, or it might be something else- though hairballs are usually thought of as a cat problem. Keep a sharp eye on your dog and if he tries again take him to the vet.

Good luck.
