I eat lunch at 11:00 every morning. If I don't eat anything until after 3:00 I get a terrible headache that doesn't go away until I sleep it off at night. Even if I do eat something, the headache doesn't get any better. I have tried Acetomenophin and Ibuprophen and neither provide any relief at all. I have talked to my doctor about this and he doesn't know what to do. What type of headache is this and what can I take to get rid of it? Serious answers only, please.

Have you tried Aleve? It is the OTC form of Naproxen or Naprosyn (same thing). Naproxen was prescribed for my headaches (mixed type) but the OTC Aleve works just as well. Tylenol or Motrin does NOTHING for my headaches. Vicodin does not help either.

I get the same headache when I don't eat at the right time and it does not go away. Those are the worst.
If your doctor won't help, see a new doctor. With bad headaches they should always give you a CT or MRI if you hadn't had one in awhile. You can also see a neurologist for headaches.

The headaches may be related to low blood sugar. If you only get them when you've gone without food all day, then the simplest thing to do is to always eat something before 3:00. You should really eat something for breakfast--doesn't have to be a lot, just a granola bar or something like that.

Also, if you frequently have to skip lunch, your work may be very stressful. Tension could have a lot to do with it. And they're pretty hard to get rid of and stay with you until after you've had a good night's sleep. I think the best thing you could do is to avoid the headaches by eating lunch every day. Even if you can't do the sit down thing, eat a health bar or fruit that you can carry to work with you. Good luck.

Many people think that getting headaches is just a natural part of life. Not so! There are causes, and thankfully, cures for headaches, even bad ones like migraines. Look into seeing a reputable Chiropractor as many headaches stim from misalignment in the cervical spine area. And if that doesn't do the trick, you can also see an acupuncturist. Good luck!

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

If you're still experiencing headaches that you can't shake away from tyolonol or ibuprophen...go back to your doctor and tell him again. He will have to further investigate. Did you knock your head lately? bash it by accident? It could be from an injury, it could be from stress, it could be your body isn't get enough of something that's causing your headaches, or you're eating something that's not agreeing with you which is causing headaches. Either way...go back to your doctor and let him know the headaches are still there and arn't going away. It's nothing to sit back with and wait for it to go away. you've tried many things...GO BACK TO YOUR DOCTOR* goodlucK*

Meal is the only treatment for you. The acids produced in your stomach need some food to dilute. If you can't eat have a glass of milk, cocoanut water or keep something with you that you can eat.
Hunger is the best medicine and best doctor too! Why do you spoil it? Honour it and live 100 years' happy life! Best Luck.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

I'm not a health professional of any kind but you have described the exact type of headache and scenario my father use to get. His were cause by low blood sugar because he was a Type ll diabetic.

I know your doctor must have considered this possibility...at least I hope so... but this is the only reference I have on regarding your question.

Stress and unhealthy diet and lifestyle causes your headache........
all you have to do is to drink plenty of water. take your breakfast, lunch and dinner regularly so that your energy requirement will be met. you can eat light snacks in between meals. forget about your pain reliever, it won't make you feel well. just relax and don't think about your headache. take a 30 minute walk everyday, it will help you ease your pain.....

you may also consult your psychologist.... it seems like something disturbs you.......
