Marines go in and clear out an area, they hold it until the backbone comes in; the Army. The Army stabilizes the area while the Marines keep advancing. Now Im not trying to put down the Army, the Marines dont totally finish an area at all, the take control and take out the militants that get in the way and hold it until the major forces arrive.
The Marines are the first to go in, the Army stabilzes and is the real backbone of the US Military. The Air Force and Navy are what makes the US Military the best in the World. Now while the Marines and Army are kicking @ss, the Navy and Air Force are dropping bombs and launching missles all over the place, set up blockades, and take out any enemy air/naval threats.
Each has an important part.

The Marines and Army are a lot alike, in tactics, abilities, and equipment. Rank is harder to come by in the marines. It is unheard of for a person to get E-5 in the Marines by the end of his first enlistment.
Despite the ads from the eighties, the Navy is more of a job than a military fighting force. Even during deployments, work can become monotonous. But the chance for travel is greater, even than the Air Force. And the deployments are shorted than Marine and Army deployments.

U S Marines are the strongest force on the planet and cannot be reckoned with. everyone in the navy is gay heres how
navy=gay'v
seaman=your rank once you complete navy bootcamp.//how gay is that
they where white uniforms ==...gay...
army is only good for there recon units and also they have around 800,000 members large numbers are always good
marines have around 100,000
navy is only good for medical stuff like dental and anal flushing LMAO
also every marine MUST qualify with a M16 a2 service rifle to be a marine
army and navy does not.
thats why when a marine is promoted to e-3/lance corporal/ there rank consist of ''1 stripe up cross rifles in the center
also marine bootcamp is 3 months long while the army is 2 months and the navy is 2 months and the air force is 6 stankin weeks

The ignorance in youngBERT's post astounds me. I won't address some of his remarks as they are so opinionated and obviously biased that no one should take them seriously. I would like to remark on one comment:
"also every marine MUST qualify with a M16 a2 service rifle to be a marine
army and navy does not."
I can't speak for the Navy, but EVERYONE in the US Army must qualify with their assigned weapon system. In order to pass Basic Training, you have to qualify. At a minimum, everyone must qualify once a year. For those in the combat arms, this is usually every quarter. The idea that those in the US Army do not train on their weapon is wrong. We train extensively on our weapon, from standard zero and qualification, to KD ranges, reflexive fires, live fire dismounted, night fire, live fire mounted, Alt C's, PVS-14's with PEQ-2's, and many more that I can't think of off the top of my head.
youngBERT, if you want to talk trash about the other services, at least get your facts straight.

There is a huge difference in the different US branches. The Marines are the best, and their training is the hardest. Marines go to boot camp for 13 weeks, they do not get to talk to any family or friends until 2 days before they graduate. You sleep about 6-7 hours a night and are constantly challenged both physically and mental all the time. You have many things you must pass in order to graduate. After boot camp you can get recruiters assistance and stay hope for up to 30 days. After that you go to MCT(Marine Combat Training) This is 17 days on sleep deprivation, you fire many weapons, and learn about them. You do simulated combat environments. It is very exhausting, but the feeling after wards is only a feeling that a fellow Marine can understand. The Navy has training for about 6 weeks, and the Army * weeks. In all branches of service after you finish your boot camp( for marines) and AIT (for Army and Navy), you go to train at the base were your specialty is going to be (for Marines it is after MCT). Your specialty is like a school to learn your job, it varies depending on your specialty. Then after school you go get stationed were you will stay for a certain period of time.
